Julie, after preterm labor has been stopped, doctors want the woman to rest to prevent any jarring or sudden movements that could restart the contractions. I'm not sure of the exact mechanics of it, but many women use light exercise and walking as means of trying to induce labor when they have reached their full term.

How long?,

the steriods work over time and don't really wear off in a certain time frame. Your doctors should be able to monitor your baby's growth to determine if the steriods have worked or if there are other steps they need to take.

How long does it take for the steroids to wear off? I went in the hospital at 30wks i was givin the meds I am now 35 wks
