I am 6 weeks and 5 days and just found out today that i am expecting twins. Being that i miscarried a year ago i am so excited to think that i'm going to have 2 babies. But the worrying never stops, now more than ever i am scared.

Jemma, congratulations on your twins, though I am sorry to hear about the leukemia. I'm glad they were able to catch it so early and that you will be able to continue the pregnancy and get treatment after.

I am 15wks pregnant with twins, when I 1st discovered I was pregnant the antenatal blood tests showed my white cell count to be abnormally high, from there I was referred to a specialist who did more tests and I was told I have leukaemia, thanks to being pregnant we have picked it up early so no treatment is required until they are born. I already have a 4year old daughter but was told this will be my last chance to have babies as once they are born I will be taking a chemo drug, I feel so blessed to have been given 2!!

Rachael,

congratulation on your twins! It surprises me that the doctor would tell you one is smaller, since at 6 weeks it's very difficult to see much other than a heartbeat on an ultrasound. It will be more important to see how they grow in a few months, but I think it's too early to be concerned.

Joshilan, the March of Dimes, which we've linked to above, might have local resources and tips for you. Your doctor can also advise you better and you might want to look for some twin-related message boards where you can talk to other moms who have delivered twins.

Hi. I just found out at 17 wks that I am having twin boys. My husband and I are happy. But we already have a 14 month old son. We're afraid it is goin to be too stressful for all of us. Including our son. Also I had my son prematurely so I am VERY worried about having twins early. What can I do to make myself pregnant as long as possible? We're just so worried and so scared that sometime bad will happen.

F. Cress, if your doc is monitoring everything and says it's okay, I believe him (or her). Every pregnancy develops differntly and it's not so unusual to have different size stomachs, even considering that this one is twins.

Bring up your concerns at your next visit and make sure your doctor is taking the time to answer your questions.

I am a young mother,i have one child which is a little girl that is 15 months old. My husband and i was wanting to try for another child when she turned a year old. Two days before her b-day i found out that i was expecting.I called and sat a date to see the doc. it was about a month later. i had been feeling really bad it was like i couldn't stand up i was so weak. well when i went to the doctor he did an ultra sound and found out that we were having twins! i was in shock at first and still am a little. but i dont feel like i did with my first child. I am 19 weeks and not as big as i think i should be. whith my little girl it was like over night i got as big as a house but this time it isnt that fast. Is this normal for me to be growing slower. my doc says every thing is fine and i am were i should be but i feel like i should be bigger.

Hi T, congrats on your pregnancy! Good for you for taking the time to try it on your own. If they only saw one sac and one yolk, you're probably safe assuming it's a sinlge pregnancy. Each woman, and each pregnancy, has different symptoms that aren't really based on the number of babies you're carrying. Maybe you're experiencing strong symptoms because you are so in tune with your body?

Your HCG levels double every few days, so that accounts for the increase. You'll be able to see more clearly on later ultrasounds, but for now I think it's probably a single.

Due to missed periods andmfeeling at the right time in our lives my husband and I decided to seek fertility help for concieving a child. Turns out I have PCOS. I've been seeing the doctors for a few months. They put me on progesterone to force a period and clomid to help with concieving. They wanted to do IF but since it was our first round of shots we wanted to try time conception, they frowned a bit but went along. We were optimizstic- despite knowing all the obstacles that were present. Turns out that we got pregnant on our first try. Everyone is so excited. They believe me to be 5 weeks. They just did an ultra sound and only saw one yolk and sac. I'm wondering due to some symptons that I've had (showing already, extremely tender breasts, swelling, dramatically increase appetite) if I may be pregnant with twins. My HGC numbers went from about 750 to 12,000 in two weeks. Is this normal for a single birth or an indication of something else?
