KellyS, since you are still getting negative pregnancy tests, you are probably not pregnant. If you doubt the results, call your doctor for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test or to talk about other medical reasons for your period being late.

KellyS, since your kidney isn't involved in the production of HcG, the pregnancy hormone, it doens't have any effect on the pregnancy test. Although the withdrawal method is far from full-proof, you should have been able to get a positive pregnancy test by now, especially considering that you had one in the doctors office. But, if you have an irregular cycle and ovulated later last month, you could have conceived later, which would mean it's too early for you to get a positive test result now. Wait another week and try testing again.

My LMP was Jan 6, it is now Feb 27. 3 HPT negative and a urine test at the doc's office on Feb 18 was negative. Still no period. No stress, no unusual lifestyle changes, no explanation for having no period. My husband and I use the "pullout method"... is there a chance I might be pregnant? I only have 1 kidney, as I donated to my uncle in Nov 2008. Could having 1 kidney effect my pregnancy results??

Katleyn, yes, you are pregnant. Having more than one positive pregnancy test is pretty definitive, but especially since you had 5 positive tests. Contact your doctor for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test and to begin prenatal checkups.

I've taken 5 pregnancy tests. they all came out positive. but the first three were faint but definatly had another line. The last 2 were digital. I havent had a period for about 2 months or more. Am i pregnant? HELP PLEASE

Taylor, implantation bleeding usually happens earlier, often before you get a positive result on a pregnancy test. It's also more likely to be a lighter flow than your period. You may be having a miscarriage. Contact your doctor, who can tell you more based on a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

i took a pregnancy test last monday and it came out positive.i took another one sunday and it also said positive.but yesterday i started to have a flow like a regular period.i looked it up and some article said that it could be implantation bleeding and another said that it could be an early miscarriage.any thoughts?

Lindsay, I'm afraid you'll need to take another pregnancy test as a tie-breaker. There's no way to know if the one test was a false positive or the other was a false negative. Since you were testing before your period is due, your urine might have been too diluted for the second test to give you an accurate result, but another test will have to be done.

Ashley, since you have some of the early signs of pregnancy and you have two positive test results, it sounds like you're pregnant to me. It's unlikely that you would have two false positive tests. If you don't believe me, or the tests, contact your doctor and request a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

My husband and I have been trying for only two months now. Yesterday I took two early pregnancy tests, both digital. The first was in the morning and had positive result. The second was about two hours later (just to be sure) and came out negative. My period is due tomorrow, and I'm wondering what the odds are that I am actually pregnant.

okay i have had most of the symptoms of being pregnant and i have took 2 tests and they both came out positive... but for some reason i dont believe i am pregnant... what do you think??

Jennifer, contact your doctor, who will likely give you a Blood-based Pregnancy Test. The four negatives make me think the first result was a false positive, but it could be possible that the other ones were false if you are still early or testing too soon.

i had symptoms of pregnancy and was advised by the doctor, to go and get a home pregnancy test..

so i did, and it was positive.. in shock.. i didn't believe it.. did another 3.. and they were all positive and one was a different brand..

i am 19 years old.. and in shock and denial..

my parents probably wont talk to me ever again.

Thank you! I am still waiting on the blood test and I did tell my doctor about the 3 positive test that I took(over 2days) and he was convinced that I was not pregnant and had a false positive:( I just dont know what to think until the blood test comes. So confused, it's possible that the test you took at the doctor's office was a false negatives rather than the other way around. Give your doctor a call and tell him about the other pregnancy test. Hopefully you'll get good news from the blood test.

I took 3 HPT's all very positive. My husband and I were very excited. I was only 2 days late so I went to my doctor a day later. The urine test was negative! So I am waiting on blood work all weekend. He said I had a false positive preg. test. So I went home and so far 5 HPTS 3 diff. brands ALL positive. I am so upset what do I think?

LMP 7/4/08 usual cycle 22-25 days, Took 2 normal preg test on 8/4/08 both positive but very faint lines, 8/5/08 used digital ept test and it said Not Pregnant...hmmmmmmm

Jessica, 13 positive pregnancy tests are pretty conclusive: you're pregnant. There are some medications that can make you get a false positive, but regular birth control pills aren't one of them.

hi, i took 13 pregnancy tests all different brands (clearblue,ept,first response) all were positive but for some reason im not convinced. i been on birth control for about 5 months and i remember hearing that birth control can make your body believe you are pregnant, could this be my case?

Michelle, it could be a false positive, but you will need to take another pregnancy test to be sure. Having blood in your urine shouldn't have any effect on the test's outcome.

Hi, I went to the doc today due to some pain I have been having. I took a pregnancy test and there was a very faint positive line, but there was also blood in my urine due to a bladder infection. My husband and I have been practicing rather safe sex. Is there a chance it may be a false positive?

Thabang, any of the things you mention could be happening...she could be pregnant, the doctor could be wrong--or right--, and her might just be messed up. It's hard to me to say.

I assume you only had unprotected sex during her period, right? Then she was late for her next period, took a pregnancy test and got a positive. Then you went to the doctor. Did he do a Blood-based Pregnancy Test or urine test? The blood test is more accurate and can give you a general idea of how far along your pregnancy is. If he did the test and it was negative, it's possible your home test was wrong.

But, she still doesn't have her period. Does she have any of the early signs of pregnancy besides missing her period? If so, she should take another home test. If it positive, call the doctor again, maybe he was wrong.

By the way, if the only time you had unprotected sex was during her period, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. There's a slight chance, but it would be unusual.

Hi, my girfriend and I had unprotected sex during her period. Six weeks later she did homd pregnancy test and it was positive. The we went to a doctor and the doc said she is not pregnant. Nine weeks down the line she still has not had her period. Can doctor be wrong or is something wrong with her cycle?

four positive pregnancy tests are pretty conclusive: you're pregnant. Since you missed your period last month and this month, you may already be two months pregnant. Please make an appointment as soon as possible with an OB/GYN to begin prenatal care if you decide to continue the pregnancy.

Hi let me start from the beggining; last month i didn't take my birth control pills because i couldn't get down to the pharmacy, so i missed my period that month because i thought that it was the transitioning of me being off the pill, to going back on the pill, because i finally got the chance to get to the pharmacy and get my pills. the only problem is i didn't get my period this month either, and i've taken four pregnancy tests that all turned positve a little fast, and thats why i'm a little concerned that i may not exactly be pregnant; one reason i'm concerned is because i haven't gotten any real big signs of preganacy. i've been getting cramps for about two months now, and i get like charlie horses ( or leg cramps) very easy; so much that i have to take calcium pills. another sympton had just shown up and it was me waking up in the middle of the night kind of nausius, but after i would get up and sit in the bathroom, it would go away. i've been very tired, and kind of moody ( like i would be starting my period soon ) but i haven't. the questions i asked might seem a little obvious, but i'm kind of young and don't know my body well enough to know the differences of pregnancy and not. the thing that really got me was the no period and four pregnancy tests. i am very sorry this is long, and i hope i didn't take up too much of your time.

Yikes, Keri, there's a lot here to work with. I think you ovulated on the 18 since that was 12 days after your period. The discharge you had was probably related to that. But, if you took tests juts 3 days after ovulating, it's too early for you to have a positive result. So maybe your period was irregular and you were pregnant around early April, the discharge on the 18 could have then been implantation bleeding.

Aside from that, I don't know what's going on. I'd wait a few days and test again. Then call your doctor again and make sure he understands all of your symptoms.

I need advice...had a period april 6th,on april 18 light brown discharge,later that day light pink,next day did 2 preg tests in 1 box both positive,next day blood got redder and I had pain,went to dr got a pap,he said cervix was closed,he did an ultra sound said I had 4 cists,Next day still bleeding light cramping,next day horrible pain in morning then the pain was gone and bleeding really slowed down,Next day bought test both positive,(Oh on the 19th in the morning dr's preg test said neg..Ok,after this horrible pain which I am assuming was the cist bursting I bought 2 more tests,both positive but lines were alittle lighter.Today woke up light brown bleeding and cramping on left side and back,Had intercourse last night,,what do u think!

Julie, three false positives would be pretty unusual. The bladder infection shouldn't have anything to do with it. I wonder if you could have had a very early miscarriage and that's what caused the tests to be positive.

Although some medications, listed above, can cause false positives, nothing taken for a bladder infection should do that.

How common is a false positive. I had 2, but I also had a bladder infection at the same time. Even the doctors test came out positive. Is is possible to have 3 false positives?

Kali, when did you take the tests that had a faint positive? If you took it in the morning and took the CVS test later in the day, here's what I think is happening: you are pregnant, but not very far along. A Faint Line on Pregnancy Test means your pregnant, but the faintness is an indication that there is not much HCG to register. By the time you took the CVS, your urine was too diluted to get a positive reading. Try testing again in the morning and see if you get a darker line.

I had bought a few generic pregnancy tests because they were on sale and we were trying to conceive for some time and it was becoming expensive. Two of the tests were faint positives-the month before the same brand test was negative as could be. all tests were packaged separately but same lot #. I just haven't felt preg so today i bought a cvs brand and tested midday and it was neg! could it be due to not a a.m. urine? it doesnt say the mIU on the cvs test, the generics were 25 mIU/ml

It sounds to me like you are pregnant! congratulations (I put a little "c" until we get confirmation from a doc). It doesnt matter how dark the lines are on the test, if they're there, it means HCG is present. I had a line so light I had to take it in the sun to see it, but it was there and the next day I took another test and that one was darker too. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

I took 4 tests yesterday 2 with lines and 2 digital, all positive but the 2 urine ones were really light u bearly could see them so today I went to my doctor she did a urnie test it was negative so then she drew my blood and I find out those results tommrow. I got home took another digital pregnant took a accu-check test positve. Has anyone heard of this before? also the line is much more darker today than yesterday.

the Equate Pregnancy Test should show just one line in the each window or a maybe a plus sign in the results window. So it sounds like your test results are invalid. You should try again with a different test.

Hello i been trying to get pregnant for 3 months after i had a tubal reversal.. i been taking test but they neg..... Im not sure how equate works i threw away Box.... But i have 2 straight lines in both boxes, what result is that.. cause some test say 2 lines means Pos.....

pretty much anytime there is a positive test result on a pregnancy test it means the person taking the test is pregnant. False positives are pretty rare, but they can occur if someone is taking certain medications, thoguh an antibiotic usually isn't one of the cuplrits.

Ask your doctor's office for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test which is usually more reliable.

Today I was told my my nurse that she dipped my urine for pregnancy and there was a very fine line. I have five kids and I know the minute I conceive (just about) I do not have any signs. I am on anti-biotics for an urinary infection, could this be the FALSE POSITIVE!!!

Very Confused, if you haven't already heard any more from the doctor, you should contact them today and ask for more information than they are giving you. It sounds like you are having a miscarriage, but some spotting and bleeding is normal during pregnancy.

It's possible that there is just a miscommunication with your doctor's office and they are not aware that no one has told you what's going on, so that's why I'd call them.

I have had two (2) pregancey test a week a part at the doctors ofice bouth came out + i am having clasic early sighns but i started to have bleeding. i have hade a misscarige before. so they sent me in for an altrasound but no one told me any thing now they are giving me the run around and it seams that i am having a period what is going on please help me out here.

Keli, unfortunately, no pregnancy test is 100 percent accurate. It's possible that the first test at the doctor's office was wrong. It's also possible that you were pregnant but are already having an early miscarriage. Since the test detects HCG in your body, you may have had some during the first test but it was gone, or was too low to be detected, by the other tests at home.

Or, the tests you took at home could be wrong, though it would be unusual for two seperate tests to be give you false negatives. The blood-based test is the most accurate, so it's good that you've been to see your doctor since this will give you the most believable results.

I have PCO and I've been trying for several months to conceive. I went to do a pap smear last week and when all was well, nothing was detected. However, the urine test showed a positive. My husband and I were ecstatic. I took another test at home a few days later just to convince myself it was true, but it was negative. I took another, diferent type the next day and it was also negative. I called the doctor and she set me to do a blood test, so I'm waiting for the results.

unfortunately, it's pretty rare to have a false negatives on a home pregnancy test, especially four of them. It is possible that certain medications could affect the test, but I don't really think that ovarian cysts could make that much of a difference.

Since you saw your doctor, I assume he gave you a Blood-based Pregnancy Test. If this was also negative, you're most likely not pregnant. In some cases, your doctor could give you medication to bring on your period in the hope that your cycle will then be regular. Maybe that's something you want to talk to him about?

If you don't feel like your doctor was helpful and didn't listen to your concerns, you should consider seeing a new doctor that you feel more comfortable with.

Hi im 12 weeks late and was trying for a baby, but ive done 4 test which all say negative. Ive got cycts on my ovaries and have been told that this can effect the reading.been to the docs but he was really unhelpful. Please Help!

Hi Yvonne, well, that's frustrating! Is your period already late? Have all the tests you've taken been Clear Blue Easy?

I'd suggest giving your doctor a call or trying a different test. More often, we hear stories about women getting false negatives instead of false positive, but maybe the first test was faulty for some reason.

I'd try a different test first thing in the morning when the urine is undiluted. If this one is still negative, I'd assume you weren't pregnant.

Hi Caroline, there are several scenarios here. It's possible one of the pregnancy tests was simply wrong, but we don't know which one. It's also possible that you were pregnant, but had an early Miscarriage, resulting in the negative test. Or, your urine may have been too diluted to test positive the second time.

In any case, the only thing to do now is take another test or give your doctor a call, who can administer a blood-based test. Good luck!

Hi,i did a clear blue digital test yesturday(2 days before my period) and it came up positive,i did another today to just 'make sure' and it came up negative. I have all the pregnancy symptoms,frequent urination,tired etc now im confused and worried.

Hi Stephanie, it's possible that the home test was wrong or that you had an early Miscarriage. The blood test at the doctor is more accurate and, since it's usually given a few days after the at-home urine test, may indicate that the pregnancy has ceased.

Have you had any bleeding since the blood test? Talk to you doctor about any concerns or questions you have. They may give you medication to bring on your period, which will help eliminate any tissue in your uterus. But, if you did have a miscarriage, is was very early and should not create any complications.

I have not had my period in 7 weeks, I took a home pregnancy test and it came back positive, however when I went to the doctor to have a blood pregnancy test done it came back negative. How is this possible?

I'm afraid it sounds like you've had a Miscarriage. If the uterus is empty on the ultrasound, there is no baby inside. Your midwife or the ultrasound tech should have talked to you about what to do next, but if they didn't, you'll need to make an appointment with an OB/GYN.

In some cases, the uterus will empty by itself in what appears to be a very heavy period. But depending on how far along a pregnancy is when it's lost, a D&C may be necessary to remove the tissue from the pregnancy. Please talk to your doctor about your options and find out what needs to be done next.

In April I had a very heavy ,unusual period, which lasted for 4 weeks . Shortly after stopping I started getting sick. After 2 weeks I had a serum preg test and it came back posative, the quantitate on the other hand needed to be redone because of an error. I didn't get it done tho. The beginning of August I had an appointment with a midwife she said she could hear the noise of the placenta and a heart beat,I would of been 14 w4d. And when she she came back at the end of the month she said she could not get a heart beat, but she could still hear the placenta really good. I went in for an aultra sound the next day. The hospital told me i was empty.Thats all they said. I had not bleed since my period and i still feel pregnant . Can you explain to me what is going on?

Chela, after testing positive twice on both an at home and blood test, you can assume that the baby is implanted. Implantation occurs 7-10 days after conception...you usually won't test positive that soon anyway.

It's possible your bleeding on August 1 was due to Implantation Bleeding.

Hello I am 20 years old I had a very heavy period that started August 1st through the 5th and a week later I took a pregnacy home urine test it came out Positive so I called my OBGYN and made an appointment she asked me to go in and take a blood pregnacy test and that was on August 16 the test came out Positive so she told me that I was PREGNANT!But I'm concerned does that mean that I'm starting the process of implantation or that the baby is already implanted? am I already pregnant of do I still wait and see if the baby Implants itself. Crystal, most pregnancy tests, including the EPT, Answer, and ClearBlue, will all show a result in about 2 minutes. Some can show a positive result within a minute of testing.
