Jenn, most women ovulate two weeks after their period, but if you can't rely on a regular cycle, it will be hard to figure out when that happens. Try using over-the-counter ovulation predictors, which will give you a better idea of when ovulation occurs. If that still doesn't work, your doctor may be able to give you blood tests that can detect ovulation.

How to Conceive a Boy

-- Contributed by: anna

this is for "anon" i fully 100% completly agree with you. however, i have 5girls. i would abslutely love a little boy! so will my husband. we love our girls to death, but we are trying for a little boy. if its a girl, will we love her anyless? absolutely not! if we have a boy, we will be estatic! either way we will love all of our children regardless, but is there a harm in trying for a peticular sex?

Truly I am not being funny but you will get one or the other, the very concept of trying to steer, without genetic help is to me a little worrying.

You were made to carry children of whatever gender, I am sure you have your reasons and that is individual to you and valuable, however I think you should simply be greatfull for the ability to have a child and be thankfull for what you have, boy or girl, nurture that person and have a happy and productive life. There are an unimaginable amount of couples who would simply move heaven and earth for a child of whatever gender and they suffer greatly knowing that theirs is a hard path to walk. At the end of the day you get what you are given and should be mighty greatfull that you have.Te ability to bring a precious gift into this world. Would you love your baby less if it was a girl? As a mother I will answer that for you. I thin not. The minute you clap eyes on that child he or she is yours for life and you will fall in love like never before.

Good luck to you,

Anon,

Check out the article How to Conceive a Boy for tips, but keep in mind that these are just helpful tips. There is no definite way to control your child's gender. You can also consult the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar to see when you can conceive a boy according to your birthdate.

Hi Sunil, check out our article How to Conceive a Boy. There are some methods you can try, like timing intercourse around your ovulation date or taking Evening Primrose Oil to produce cervical mucus.

There are also plenty of Urband Legends you can try like eating salty foods or having your partner drink coffee before sex. Who knows? It's worth a try.
