Koolaid25, some unusual bleeding or changes in your cycle can happen when you are first on the Birth control shot. Other side effects can include headaches and dizziness, but nausea and urinary changes aren't usually among the noticeable changes. If you suspect you might be pregnant, you should take a pregnancy test. In either case, follow up with your doctor about your symptoms.

Nicole,

if you are having unprotected sex, there is certainly a chance that you could be pregnant. Some women take a few months to get a regular cycle back after coming off the IUD, but that's not always the case. Since your periods sounds like they are off track, you should wait 2-3 weeks and take a test.

I just had an IUD put in, in march took it out the 14th of may the second day of my last period, well i just started my period again, but me and m boyfriend have had unprotected sex everynight. Is there a possibility were pregnant?

Niysha,

no birth control method is 100 percent effective. Even though the chances of getting pregnant on Implanon are slim, it can happen, especially if you are on other medications that interfere with it's effectiveness. If you haven't already, you should take a pregnancy test or follow-up with your doctor.

on birth control implanon and in march had sex and been having pregnancy symptoms can i still get pregnant on implanon

-- Contributed by: niysha

Hi Foxy B., it can sometimes take your cycle a few months to return to normal after having something like Implanon removed, so you might need to wait a few months to conceive. Most women ovulate two weeks before their period is due, so that's the best time to plan intercourse. It's not out of the question for you to conceive right away, but you'll need to wait a few more weeks to see if your period comes as scheduled.

Pls comment to this one the addy is wrong on the other!

KC, it is possible that you are pregnant, but it's also possible that you are experiencing hormone changes because of your period. Even though you took a test last month, you should take another pregnancy test now. If it's still negative, give your doctor a call. The symptoms you mention are some of the early signs of pregnancy, but they could also be a sign of PMS or the flu or a combination of several things.

Good luck!

Angie, though very rare, you can get pregnant after having your tubes tied. If you haven't already done so, you should take a pregnancy test.

If you're not pregnant, the missed period could be related to menopause (or early menopause, depending on your age).

I had a tubal ligation about 5 years ago. I had protected sex in August and had what I thought was just a lite period in September. I have not had a period in October and it is now November 13 and still no period. I have NEVER missed my period other than when I had my three children. I know there is a very slim chance that I am pregnant but, could it be possible and what other conditions may cause this to happen to me. I haven't been stressed and I haven't been working out. Any ideas??

-- Contributed by: Angie

Laura, if your cycle is regular, you will have ovulated around September 3, so you are unlikely to have conceived from sex on August 30. But, it might take a few months for your cycle to regulate since coming off the IUD.

I had my IUD removed on August26th and had unprotected sex on August 30, my last cycle was 8/20/08, what are my chances of being pregnant...

Emma, when taking Plan B or an emergency birth control, you may get an earlier or later period that can be heavier than normal. If the bleeding gets heavy or if you have severe cramping, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

it was 2 weeks since i had my period (ovulaing time) and the condom broke but we'd only been at it for about 5 min. when we realised... i went and took the day after pill so i should be fine right?? but now im bleeding and its not period blood, does it have anything to do with the sex & pill??? please help!

Marie, if you got your period after having sex, you are probably not pregnant. Women typically conceive 14 days after their period when they are ovulate. Unless you have an irregular cycle or ovulated, you don't need to worry. But it would be a good idea to take a pregnancy test to be sure.

I had sex with one guy and i was drunk and not sure if i was pregnate, i then had sex again and 2 days after got my period's, do i still have a chance to get pregnate?

i have a 2 month old that i am breastfeeding and i have not gotten my period yet, my husband and i had sex on the 18th of june and the condom broke. i took a couple home pregnancy tests but they came out negative. i am feeling pregnancy like symptoms such as nausia and funny feeling in stomach. do you think im pregnant? when should i test again to know for sure?

-- Contributed by: Karina

Sandrine, since your next period is due in a few days, you can take the First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test, which gives an accurate result four days before your period is due. Most other over-the-counter pregnancy tests can be used on the day your period is due if you want to wait.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

My period comes usually every 28/29 days. The first day of my last period was 06/06/08. I aam in a serious relationship and might have conceived sometimes around 6/17. There's been a lot more times around that date that we tried to conceive. I've experienced for the past coule of days frequent urination, breast fullness and fatigue.

-- Contributed by: sandrine

Angie, with your last period on June 13, you should ovulate around June 27. I'm not sure if that's around the time you had sex, but if you are trying to conceive that would have been the best time.

Your next period should be due July 11 so you can take a pregnancy test as that date gets closer.

i got my last periods on june 13 . i have a cycle of 28 days. i had sex for following 4 days without using a safety method. is their any chance of me being pregnant

Jessica, it's very rare to become pregnant after having your tubes tied, but it can happen in some cases. Since you're late, you should take a pregnancy test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I had my tubes tied 12 years ago, but i am 17 days late. Can I be pregnant?

-- Contributed by: jessica

Jessica, your period should come around the same time, usually every 28 days, regardless of the calendar. Having a short or long calendar month has no effect on your cycle.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

i always start my period on the 1st of the month, but because of february only habing 29 days, i didnt start until the 4th of march. now this month,im late. is this bescause i started later last month?

-- Contributed by: jessica

Crystal, if your period is late, you should take a pregnancy test. The symptoms you mention are some of the early signs of pregnancy, but they could also be a sign of a cold, the flu, or a combination of several things.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Jeppy, a woman can get pregnant anytime sperm comes in contact with her vagina, though there is less of a chance then if you'd have full intercourse without a condom. You can take the First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test four days before your period is due.

-- Contributed by: jeppy

Harzina,

yes, absolutely take a pregnancy test. Since your period is already late, you can expect accurate results from the test. The cramping you mention might also be an early signs of pregnancy.

Hi,

I am just 2 month married. the first month that i was married i missed my period but the pregnancy test shows negative and i did get my period the next month. however, now i missed my period again, and i have not check on my pregnanies test. my and partner are not planninng, thus are very happy if i am preganant. it is almost 10 days that i missed my period and i am feeling a discomfort feeling at my lower abdominen.

Sort of like cramps, just for a couple of minutes then its gone. should i do a pregnancies test now? TQ

Rhae, having an abortion will probably make your cycle irregular for a month or two, so you should use another form of birth control for a few weeks. Are you concerned because your period is late? If your period is late and your pregnancy test is still negative, you are probably not pregnant. It just might take some time for your cycle to return to normal.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I did my abortion last jan 19, and have a very heavy period till 25th, then i used the pill on the 26th till i finish the pack while having sex at the same time, then i always take the home preg test every week until i reach the date that i expect my period till now and it is still negative..am i just stressed out or am i just starting to ovulate and the preg test cannot detect if i am already pregnant?

Youden,

sounds like you have secondary infertility, which can be related to age, medications, or medical issues. You should make an appointment with your doctor who will be able to help you resolve your fertility problems.

hi sir/madam,

i have 7 years old daughter and i am trying to conceive for almost two years. but failed. please suggest.

Heather, fatigue and abdominal pain are some of the side effects of Depo, but I think you would have experienced them earlier on. It's unusual that you would just start noticing these things a year later.

Many of these symptoms could also be some of the early signs of pregnancy. Although Depo is highly effective, no birth control method is 100 percent. But, these signs could also be related to the flu or something else entirely.

If you are concerned about pregnancy, you could take a home pregnancy test. If the symptoms continue or get worse, you should contact your doctor.

I've been on Depo-Provera for about 16 months. Lately i've been having alot of early pregnancy signs such as the frequent urination, tender breasts, bloiating, lower back pain, cravings, fatigue, nausea, ligt bleeding(since i've been on the shot i havent bled at all) and i've jus been feeling pregnant. is there anyway it could be that the shot is making me feel his way or could it be tat i'm really pregnant?

Gabby, facing an unexpected pregnancy at any age is hard to do, especially if you are a teenager. Have you taken a home pregnancy test yet? Although it would scary to do so, that's the first thing you need to do since you could be stressing out for nothing.

If you are pregnant, please read our article about tpregnancy options. Besides an abortion, you might also want to consider giving the baby up for adoption.

Remember that there are plenty of resources available for teen moms and you shouldn't feel pressured into making a choice that you are not able to live with.

I am 16 years old. and I think i might be pregnant. This was really unexpected...I am no longer with the guy that might be the father of my baby. I feel really scared and I'm hoping that I am not pregnant. If I am...I dont know what I'm going to do...I am against abortion...but that's probably what I'm going to end up doing.

Lina, if you weren't trying to conceive, it can come as a big surprise to find yourself pregnant. Having a baby is a big life adjustment and can take some time to get used to.

Many doctors don't bother to give a pregnancy test since the at-home tests are just as accurate as what they use. You may get some blood tests that could give you peace of mind, but the eight positive tests leave little doubt about your pregnancy.

If you are not sure you want to have a baby now, there are options for an unwanted pregnancy that you may to explore, or you can talk to your doctor about your concerns.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I have taken more than 8 tests all are positive, I have been to the doctor and a midwife but they didnt test me. Everyone assumes I am I think I just cant accept it. Is it silly not to believe so many positive tests.

-- Contributed by: Lina

Christine, when it's too early for a test, it's generally too early for you to be having pregnancy symptoms. Your exhaustion and nausea may just be from having your cycle messed up since you were behind on the pills (plus, having two kids already means that you are probably already exhausted, right?)

The possibility of pregnancy exists since you may have ovulated, but only time will tell. Try not to worry about it too much as you may make yourself more stressed out. If your period comes this month before you are at the end of your pills, call you doctor or pharmacist and ask if you start over with a new pack or continue to finish the one you are on.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Hi,I have been on the pill for years and been lucky enough not to get pregnant even when I miss a few days. However, at the start of this "month" I was 7 days behind on my pill packet because of refill problems. I started taking them again on 9/1 which is right at my ovulation time. I did have intercourse during that time. What do you think the chances are that I could be pregnant? I have two kids and know the symptoms and I'm exhausted and nausea comes and goes. Really liking tangy things the last few days. Could it all be mental? It's too early for a test.

Hi Mercedes, whenever you start a new type of birth control pill, doctors recommend using a backup method like condoms for the first month. So, start using protection for the next few weeks.

It's slightly possible that you could be pregnant and are noticing implantation bleeding. But, Alesse can also cause some breakthrough bleeding, especially in the first few months. If your period is late, take a home pregnancy test or give you doc a call.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Hello, my name is Mercedes. I just have one question for you, I recently got intimate with my boyfriend last weekend, and we did not use any condoms because I was on alesse. Mind you this was the first time using alesse. So about 5 days after I noticed a discharge that was of an odd color, it was a reddish-brown. And maybe the odd time a little bit of blood comes (the odd time) can you tell me what this means?
