Tia, it's hard to say if you could be pregnant. The symptoms you mention can all be signs of pregnancy so you're right to take a test. Since you think your period is late, you should take a test now. If it's negative, try again in a few days. Sometimes women get false negatives if there isn't enough of the pregnancy hormone present, so wating a few days can help.

Thank you Holly for your reply back!I did take a preg test earlier this evening and it came back negative, I will re test next week as my obgyn said a hpt wont show up until then. Still not feeling the greatest, also on wednesday I had a very light brown discharge, Thursday was dark brown/pinkish/reddish it was very light and was gone by friday night. Im never that light or is my period that short. Lately my coffee tastes off to me, I have breast tenderness, nausea and heartburn.Moody as well! One minute I could cry, the other Im moody. My periods are also painful, I had cramps but not like my usual ones.I checked on a ovulation calander the same one that said when my most fertile day was the day the act was done, and said two days ago (fri) my period should of started and be heavy, no period and certainly no heavy flow. All discharge has stopped only lasted a day in a half -2 days. Im more tired then usual as well if that helps. When should I re test? Could i be pregnant?

Tia,

any time you have unprotected sex, there's a chance that you'll get pregnant. Even though he pulled out, there was still some sperm that probably came in contact with you. Most women don't notice any symptoms until there period is due, but since you aren't sure if your period is due yet, you should take a pregnancy test. If it's negative, wait a week and test again.

Any advice would help! I had unprotected intercourse with my partner. I'm not on anyform of B Control as I am in my late 20's. He was "leaking" alot and pulled out when he "finished" This happend a week ago and tomorrow it will be officially a week. The night before I was at my highest fertile period. A few days later I started to not feel well and still don't. My stomach feels odd, and I noticed red specs of something. I read that "pre-ejaculate"there was alot of that, can carry sperm and continues throughout intercourse. I usually get my period every 3-4wks so far I'm 1 day late if it is 3. Any chance I'm pregnant?

Ann, implantation bleeding can happen 3-6 days after conception though not all women will experience it. Most over the counter pregnancy tests can be used the first day of your expected period, but some can be used even earlier.

i had a spotting last night and this morning. i have been ttc & my gyno suggested 19-25 as most fertile. Today is just 29th. Could this be implantation bleeding. i'm confused as i do not bleed much during my regular monthly since i had a miscarriage a year ago. Kindly advise, when should i test??

My Experience, good luck! Let us know what you find out.

I had a clearish red spotting almost a week ago but it turned to light brown and went away soon after I even first relised it. This is a week before my period is due. I have been having unprotected sex and I hope I'm pregnant. My period is due tomorrow and if I dont get it I'm testing with a pregnancy test sometime this comming week. the bleeding I had experiance was a small amount. It was clearish red...then faded to brown and stopped the same day.....

Tiffany,

some spotting can be normal in the days following an IUD removal, but it should have stopped by now. Contact the health care provider who removed your IUD to find out if you need to be examined.

Connie, anytime you have a symptom that concerns you, you should contact your doctor. If you haven't already done so, you can take a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant, but it might still be too early for you to get an accurate result if your period is due yet. Sometimes women can spot mid cycle for no real known reason, but only your doctor is qualified enough to make that determination.

This was the first and only two times that this has ever happened to me, no other episodes after having intercourse--please advise

-- Contributed by: Connie

Connie, if the spotting always happen after sex, I suspect it's from the sex itself and not pregnancy. Implantation bleeding doesn't stop and start. If the bleeding seems to continue after sex, contact your doctor as you may have a medical issue that should be checked out.

I notice a small amount of brownish spotting after the last two times my husband and I had intercourse, I know it is not my period as it is not due for another two weeks--could this be a sign of pregnancy?

-- Contributed by: Connie

Christina, if you haven't already, you should take a pregnancy test. You might be experiencing implantation bleeding or just a lighter period.

I had a very, very short period of less than 36 hours, and it was followed by very light spotting. That's it. It came about one day earlier than I expected it and lasted a very short time. It was followed by light cramping, but nothing severe (I barely notice it unless I'm in bed). Does this mean that I could be pregnant?

Oby, an HCG level below 5 means that you are not pregnant. The spotting may have been just some abnormal bleeding or it could be a sign of ovulation.

Nonchalant, since the bleeding you experienced happened around the time your period was due, I don't think you are pregnant. Periods can vary greatly in their flow, even from one month to the next. If you think you could be pregnant, take a pregnancy test, but I think you just had an irregular period.

Honeybee, You could be pregnant, but your cycle may just be irregular because of starting and stopping the pill. Take a pregnancy test and if it's negative, wait a week and take another. If you don't want to conceive right now, make sure you stay on the birth control pills regularly. You should also use another form of birth control, like a condom, for the next month since you might ovulate.

Just to add im not on any birth control and never been. The symptoms i noticed. Stuffy nose, im always tired at work and im not on my feet much nor is my job stressful. As my abdomen feel tender, going to the bathroom a lot.and i been eating pickles and shrimp like 3 times a week.

Hi.. My period comes regular and start getting heavy after a few hours. This month i began spotting light pink for 24hrs. The next day it got bright red and slightly heavy, which lasted for 2 days. It went back to spotting day 3, but i had sex and it was blood dripping after. The next morning it went to brown spotting and cleared up at the end of the day... Me and my bf are ttc but he thinks he cant have kids. I have 1 already and didnt experience implantation bleeding with her and wondering if i am pregnant.

it sounds like implantation bleeding, maybe you to go to the doctor or take a HPT. I am currently been going thru the same thing. I've been nauseous, very tired, cramping, & having brown discharge. I'm on birth control, but stopped taking it for 2-3 weeks & had sex in between that time...i got back on it & since then I've been feeling this way. could I be pregnant or is it the birth control pills? HELP!

You are fine. In my opinion you are not preggo. Take a test to be sure. Don't stress over it. This could be why you had a wierd period. I had the same thing last month. I am TTC so I took a test and got a BFN. Just test and you will feel better!!

Rain, Most women ovulate two weeks before their period is due, so if you have a regular cycle and your was expected on 10/10, you would have ovulated around 9/26. So if that's around the time you had sex, there is a chance you could be pregnant.

More likely, I think you are just having a lighter period this time that is lasting longer. If you are pregnant and experiencing pregnancy-related bleeding, you can take a pregnancy test and expect accurate results.

I'm not sure if I'm pregnant or not. I had sexual intercourse with my other almost two weeks ago (protected, but scared pre ... might have dripped before condom was put on). I was suppose to get my period the 10th of October, but instead I got it the 14th. I heard about the "implantation bleeding" so I'm a little confused.

I think I might be on my period, because I always cramp really bad and this time I got cramps really bad the week of my period. It looks weird to me. Like, not normal. I have at first, brown discharge, then when I wipe I see red blood, like I'm on my period. The next day It's blood mixed with discharge on the pad. Then the bleeding stops! All it is, is dark brown discharge like I'm off my period. Then sometimes I would get a kind of "watered down" blood look in my panties.

The next day, I was bleeding again, along with some brown discharge before that. And today it was dark dark blood, then light discharge and no bleeding. (I thought I was off the period). So, I go to the bathroom and see some dark dark brownish blood? Then, I go to wipe and I see bright red blood. Like, the period was starting over again.

Now, here I am with another pad on. Did I mention the horrible stomachs and weird uterus pains I've been getting? Most of the people I'm talking to about it say because it was my first time it probably made me a little irregular. Or the reason I got my period 4 days later was because I was stressing myself out about it.

So, if there's anyone out there that has some experience with this or can help me understand what it is that might be going on that would be great! I plan on getting a pregnancy test today just to be sure.

Thanks.
