How do I determine my lunar year? For instance, I was born in August of 1981, so that makes me 28 year & 3 1/2 months right now. Since my husband & I are wanting to conceive a son when would be the best time for us? Thank you so much, Yevonne

both the Shettles Method and Whelan Method methods have different ideas on how to conceive a boy. Since the male sperm swims faster, many people believe that having intercourse right when ovulation occurs will may you more likely to conceive a boy.

since the recommendation, which is simply an urban legend, is about increasing your salt intake during the time you are trying to conceive, there wouldn't be any ill effects on a baby. Of course, everything should be done in moderation and women who have health issues should follow their regular diet guidelines.

there is no definite to influence the gender of your next baby, but many women like to use the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, which is an ancient form of timing conception to coincide with the preferred gender. It's not 100 percent, but it might help and it can't hurt to try it.

Dumpling, even though the LH surge may be detected longer, you are only really fertile the day you ovulate and the day after. So you were probably able to conceive on Day 13 and 14, assuming the test results were accurate and there isn't any reason to suspect false readings. Your doctor who has prescribed the Clomid can advise you better than I can.

I am trying to concieve a baby boy and understand that in order to succeed, the best timing for intercourse is on the day of ovulation. I am taking clomid, and have a positive result of LH surge since Day 13 by using ovulation test to detect. The LH result is positive from Day 13 to Day 22, which on Day 21 and Day 22, I have strechy and heavy cervical mucus. My questions are: 1. is it normal that I have around 10 days of positive LH surge detected? 2. Should I try to concieve on Day 21 and Day 22 if I have heavy cervical musuc if I want to concieve a boy?

there is no way to guarantee that you will have one gender over the other. Your most fertile time this cycle should be February 9, which is when you will ovulate if you have a regular cycle. One theory, mentioned above, says to have intercourse before you ovulate. Based on this, you should have intercourse on February 8.

I should mention, however, that even the best-timed intercourse doesn't always end in a pregnancy, much less a specific gender.

Celeste, sorry, there's no guaranteed way to concieve a boy. You might increase your chances by having intercourse 24 hours before you ovulate, which in your case is probably January 30. This is based on the Shettles Method, which you can read more about in the link above.

Curious, there is no surefire way to conceive a boy, but you could try timing intercourse for 24 hours before you ovulate since the male sperm will reach the egg faster.

Conceive, the gender of an unborn baby is determined by the chromosomes in the male's sperm, so women can do very little to influence this. As we mention above, there are some things that you might be able to try to increase your chances, but this is no magic food or pill that will make that happen. In my opinion, the Shettles Method is your best chance to try to conceive a boy.

The odds cited here for having 3 of four children of the same gender are misleading. Yes, the odds of having three children of the same gender are 25% IF you have no children. Once you have 2 of the same gender, the odds of having 3 of the same gender are 50%. Once you have 3 of the same gender, the odds of having 4 of the same are still 50%. Actually, having three of the same gender may indicate that there's something genetically predisposing you to having a certain gender, which means that the odds are more than likely better to have another of the same gender. Think about it, if you had 99 girls, at best, your odds of a boy would be 50% for your 100th child...but would you bet on it?

I have exactly the same dates as you and today i started getting implantation bleeding brownish discharge. You would of ovulated on the 8th of dec like me. I was with my partner a day before ovulation so the chances are pretty high. So if you were with your partner ont he 7th its high that you would conceive the same time as me. RD, even when you time intercourse perfectly with your ovulation date, you're still not guarenteed to conceive. Unfortunately there is a lot more at play than just timing it right.

You should plan to take a pregnancy test about a day before your period due date, which would be around December 22 if you have a regular cycle.

Maribel, unfortunately, everything I could recommend to conceive a boy is really just guess work. If you've tried the things in this article and the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, you may just be destined to have girls.

I wanted a boy and got another girl i have four in all. In my case i wonder if I will ever have a boy. Don't you think by know i would of had one. what do i have to do to have a boy I tried the Chinese Calendar but it failed twice. What else is there.

RD, your doctor might be able to help you figure out the length of your cycle if yours are irregular or using ovulation could also help.

well here the thing i was a week late, and this happen not to often i how do we know how long our cycles are

RD, it's unlikely that you would get pregnant right after your period, but it could happen if your cycle is irregular or if you ovulated early. Again, not likely, but possible.

As for the full moon, that's just a pregnancy myth. The moon has no effect on conception.

Ok thank you for the information. one more thing i started my period on 10/20/07 and had unprotected sex on 10/28/07, could i get pergent with that one day, other than that we have used protection. can yoi please help also my mother in law siad that if there is a full moon then if you have sex within those days of the full moon then you can have a boy is this correct

RD, according to the according to the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, you can conceive a boy in January. The chart shows that you will conceive a girl through the end of this year but can conceive a boy in January and March and the beginning of April before you turn 25. Good luck!

according to the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, a 24 year old is likely to conceive a girl through December. If you are still 24 in January, you may conceive a boy then.

I have to remind you, though, that this is just a theory, one of many about how to effect a child's gender. You have a 50-50 chance either way.

good luck with your attempt to have a boy ! There's no way to know if your pregnant until your period is due, you can take a home pregnancy test then.

Hi Rajesh,

acording to the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, your wife conceived a boy in April 2007 if she was already 27 when she conceived. If she conceived when she was still 26 earlier in the month, she conceived a girl. That's cutting it pretty close though and is being a lot more specific than I think the Chinese ever intended.

Since your wife is in her six month of pregnancy, she should be able to get an ultrasound that will tell you for sure what she's having. Good luck!

Sree, your wife is 25, right? Someone born in 1982 is 25 in 2007. So according to the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar, your wife can conceive anytime now through January to have a boy. Good luck!
