Danielle,

since you've already tested and gotten a negative, you should wait several days before retesting. You can go crazy taking too many tests, trust me. You are better off waiting until you can get a more reliable result. You could also give your doctor a call and ask for a blood-based pregnancy test, but I suspect they will tell you to wait a few more weeks and test again.

HollySwanson,I would like to start off and say thank you so much for your feed back on my comment.... i did have the IUD with the hormones. but i still have not gotten my period this month and i did a pregnancy test today with first response and it came out negative. Today is 5 days before my usual date of my monthly period. i would like to know if i should just wait till the 25th or 26th of October then take another pregnancy test?

Danielle, did you have an IUD that had hormones in it? If so, some of the symptoms might be related to the hormones leaving your body, sort of like a withdrawal. Since your last period was 9/20, your next one is due 10/18, but your cycle might be off a bit since coming off the IUD. If you don't have your period yet, this is the right time to take a test. good luck!

Hi there my name is Danielle, i recently had my IUD removed on 9/19/09 due to a pelvic infection. the next day 9/20/09 i started my period and it lasted for about a week till 9/26/09. My husband and I had unprotected sex on 10/3. i have been feeling sick this passed week, my breast have been sore and tender, i am sensitive to smells, feeling morning sickness that makes me feel like i need to vomit. somedays the morning sickness will last all day. i have taken a couple of pregnancy test and they have been coming up negative... i believe its due to being to early. i usually start my period around the 25th of each month. so my question is when should i take a first response pregnancy test????? if anyone can help me i would greatly appriciate it!!!

Ry,

taking a test three days before your period is due can give you false results. Most tests have about a 90 percent accuracy rate the day your period is due, so it's best to wait until then. If you take the test too early and get a negative, you will need to test again a few days later anyway to confirm the results.

There is, of course, no harm in testing early, but just remember that an early negative might not be entirely accurate.

Hi there! I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend approximately 3 weeks ago, but he pulled out very early before ejaculating. However, my breasts are very swollen/tender now and my stomach seems a bit swollen. However, my period is coming up in less then 4 days and I usually notice PMS symptoms similar to those. I first noticed the symptoms about a week ago though which is earlier then I usually do for my period. If I were to take a pregnancy test tomorrow would it be accurate? Tomorrow is monday and my period is supposed to come on Thursday :/ Also, what do my symptoms sound like to you?! Thanks a ton :)

Sarah, if you have a regular 28-day cycle, January 5 is the earliest that you can expect valid results from most pregnancy tests. The First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test is valid four days before your period is due, making January 1 the earliest you could take it. If you get a negative result, you should wait a few days and try another test to be sure.

Dolly, did you have the fibroid removed? If so, it is likely that the spotting and pain is related to that. Your doctor should be able to tell you how long that can last and what to expect.

But, it never hurts to take a test though most tests are accurate until the day your period is due. With your period still two weeks away, it's probably not a pregnancy.

3weeks ago I went to the ER with extreme pain in my left side. I was told my tube was swollen and I had an 3cm fibroid. I went to an OBGYN and they set up a date to take everything out. The extereme pain went away. Now I'm haveing all the symptoms of pregnacy, last nite I had spotting and I have never had bleeding between periods and my periods are always regular, my period isn't due for another 2weeks. I had my tubes tied 15 years ago is it possible the pain and swelling was my tubes healing,? and the spotting implantation bleeding,? Should I take a test?

Happy Chick, a lot of women experience late periods and some of the early signs of pregnancy, but they aren't pregnant afterall. You could try another pregnancy test, but I suspect your doctor will give you a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

Hello, Ever since the birth of my son whom is 15 months now I have not been on bc. I have always had regular periods every 35-40 days until now. My husband and I decided it was time for baby #2 and the month of Sept. we tried for the whole month. My last period was Aug.30th and it's now 10/14 and no period yet. I have taken 2 pregnancy test which have been both negative. I usually get sore boobs a week before my period arrives but not this time. I'm really concerned because I have never missed a period with a neg prego test. I'm planning to go to the doc's sometime this week- Has this happend to anyone?

Hi, there is no reason to wait two weeks after your missed period to test. Today's pregnancy tests are far more accurate than that. You can take another test now, unless the spotting you notice has turned into your regular period.

PJ, unless you also had sex earlier in the month or you have an irregular cycle, you are probably not pregnant from having sex right before your period. Most women ovulate two weeks before their period, which is when you are likely to conceive.

I took a pregnancy test a week after my missed period and i also used the morning urine but results were negative. Now I spoke with the lady at the doctors office and she advised me to wait 2 full weeks after my missed period to retest, but the 3rd day after my missed period i had light spotting, so what should I do?

-- Contributed by: Hi,

Zaheera, are you sure it's a normal period and not some spotting during pregnancy? Spotting can be pretty common, but it might also be a sign of an early miscarriage or an indication that you had a false positive.

Hello,

I used the First Response test yesterday-morning urine, and it was positive. I started my period this morning. Could I still be pregnant? Of course, I will consult my doctor but can you also advise? Thank you, Zaheera
