I should mention that the first test I took the day before yesterday, and the test with the positive was taken yesterday.

-- Contributed by: KatieP

Ok, so, I took 2 pregnancy tests (both new equate early result tests. One showed negative no line at all, the second (taken yesterday) looked negative at first and I saw it in the trash again today and there was a blue line. (One for neg, two lines for pos). I wouldn't wonder if it was an evap line if it wasn't a light blue, but it is visible at arms length and my other test had no line at all. Should I test again or is this a positive? I know equate even positives can be REALLY light in color.

-- Contributed by: KatieP

Tiffany I had exactly the same results as you today - faint line on a first response but then negative on clear blue digital - what happened in the end to you?

-- Contributed by: Kirsty

I TOOK THE TEST TODAY AS SOON AS I WOKE UP AND IT CAMEE OUT POSTIVE IM SOO HAPPY YOU DONT EVEN KNOW

Mary,

the Equate pregnancy test usually shows a plus if you are pregnant and a minus if you are not. Sounds to me like you got a minus sign, meaning that you are not pregnant. If you are testing before your period is due, it's possible that you are too early and should test again in a few days. If you think you are probably pregnant despite the negative results, it never hurts to test again or give your doctor a call for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

I took a Equate pregnancy test this morning and the test line came up no prob but the second line was faint and it look like - l instead of 11 ( those are lines )does that still mean that Im pregnant? or should I test again? the first test I took was kinda the same the second test I think I did it wrong cuz nothing showed up at all not even the line saying the test was working so I tried a 3rd time and that is what I got I hope this makes sense.

-- Contributed by: Mary

Tiffany, when is your period due? Usually any line means you are pregnant, no matter how faint line it may be. The two faint lines and the one negative test makes me wonder if you are testing too early. Wait a few days and test again or follow up with your doctor.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Yesterday and today I got a faint pink line on a first response pregnancy test...so light you can barely see unless you are in good light. However I got a big fat not pregnant on a clearblue easy digital this morning also(I dipped it in the same urine as the first response that I got a positive on). What do you think....am I or not????

-- Contributed by: Tiffany

Nicole,

as long as you read the test within the first ten minutes of taking it, it was a positive line and you are pregnant. If you took the test too early or you ovulated and conceived later than expected, that would account for the first negative test result.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I to a home pregnancy test four days ago, which read negative. I still didn't start my period so i took another test this morning which had a simi faint positive line. Is this the evaporation line i'm seeing or am i really pregnant?

-- Contributed by: Nicole

Concerned,

is that faint line in the results section? If it is a faint positive line, it means you are pregnant, no matter how light it is. If the overall test is only giving faint results, you should try testing with another brand.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I keep on getting a very faint negative with a lot of blue in the background...does this mean it might be too early to test?

-- Contributed by: Concerned

Diana,

no, I can't tell if you are pregnant. The only way to know for sure if by taking a home pregnancy test or seeing your doctor for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

i am not feel well this two weeks and afraid to have a pregnancy test can you tell me if i am pregnant?

-- Contributed by: DIANA

How to know..., any line in the results window means you are pregnant no matter how faint. A Pregnancy Test False Positives are rare, but they can happen. Since you're not sure, wait another day and test again. Maybe you just need more time for the HCG to build up to get a stronger reader.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

i took a pregancy test and it had the faint line there and im just whundering am i or am i not?

-- Contributed by: how to know if it's true?

Kayla, you used two different tests, right? There isn;t any difference in the result of the test whether you use direct urine or catch it in a cup first. If you doubt the results of the test, you should take another one or contact your doctor for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I took an equate pregnancy test with the purple cap. the first time, i peed in a cup and took it and it came up negative. I took it again by peeing on it and it came up with a faint vertical line indicating pregnancy. Does the special hormone show up stronger if you actually pee on the stick rather than peeing in the cup. And I've missed my period by 2 days now.

-- Contributed by: Kayla

Trish,

many pregnancy tests will show one line for negative and two lines for positive. I'm not sure what type you took, but if you see any positive line, it means you are pregnant. If you're not sure about the results, by all means, test again.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I took the test, and had a strong negative line, but the other line for the positive was faint? take another?

-- Contributed by: Trish

Faint line, the positive line can fade, but it's not a sign of any problem. It just means that there may not have been much urine on the tip so the liquid, which caused the line, is evaporating already. Take another test if it eases your mind, but it sounds like you are pregnant.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

i took the E.P.T early this moring and the showed potive, but now the vertical line is fading. what does this mean.

-- Contributed by: Faint Line

Kristin, if you are testing one week after having sex, it's too early for you to get a positive pregnancy test. You didn't mention how far along your pregnancy was, but I suspect that you still have some of the HCG in your system.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I had a miscarriage a little over 2 weeks ago and had sex a little over a week ago and took 2 home pregnancy tests and had a faint line. Could i be pregnant again or is its the hormome still left in my body from my miscarriage?

-- Contributed by: Kristin

Carsy05, sometimes the signs and symptoms of your regular cycle or even things like the flu can be confused with some of the early signs of pregnancy. By the time most women notice symptoms, they should be far enough along to get a positive pregnancy test. In case you tested too early, wait a few more days and try again.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I had a faintline on a negative test but im having every sign of pregnancy

-- Contributed by: carsy05@yahoo.com

Diana, do you have another pregnancy test that you can take? If you are using an older test or are reading the results later than 10 minutes after using it, you might be seeing an evaporation line, which can seem like a positive.

Try taking another test. If that one is still positive, call your doctor back. Just because you weren't pregnant last time doesn't mean you aren't now, so it's worth having another appointment.

Hi! I got a very faint line on my early response pregnancy test. I am almost a month late on my period. I got my last period Oct 13 and its Dec 9 and i still havent had my period. Last month i had a very faint line on the home pregnancy test twice and then i went to the doctor and they told me i wasnt pregnant. I got my period after that but the same thing is happening this month except my period is really late now but there is still a very faint line is not dark as it should be.. I am very concerned because i dont know if its a medical problem or if im really pregnant this time.. what should i doo?

-- Contributed by: Diana

S, you may be able to see the evaporation right away. I've been able to see where the line would appear pretty quick after taking the test, so I know it's possible.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Is it possible to see an evaporation line right away (within the 2 minutes of waiting for results)? I see a shadow-like line where the positive result should be. Am I just looking too close?

-- Contributed by: S

S., I'm not sure why your doctor would have had your urine tested, but since your period is now more than 10 days late, you should be able to get a positive result on a pregnancy test. If you doubt the results at your doctor's office, try taking another test at home.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Ist test i had performed after 5 days i missed my periods. After more 10 days i visiteddoctors clinic she tested diluted urine & gave me negetive report

Ann, six days before your period is due is usually too early to get an accurate reading from a pregnancy test. You might be pregnant, but to get results you can trust you should wait a few days to test. If you do get a positive result, give your doctor a call so you can have a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

its 6 days before my period and ive been getting stomach cramps and feeling sick. Me and my partner has been trying for a baby for 2 month now. I did a asda pregnancy test which showed a faint line in the positive section. Just t o make sure i completed another asda test which again showed a very faint line in the positive section. Could this mean that i am pregnant or is it too soon to tell.

-- Contributed by: ann

Catlina, unless you are using the First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test, which is valid from four days before your period is due, you are probably testing too early. Most tests don't give you valid results until your period is late. The bleeding you noticed might be from implantation, but you can't rely on any tests for a few more days.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Hi.I done a hpt(bought from local pharmacy) and the faint line appear after 2 & a half minutes and the faint line still there after a day.i've slight bleeding(light brown, one spot) next day - just for a day. i done the test again that day n the same thing happens, the faint line is still there. my period is due another 5 days. this (bleeding just before my next period))never happened to me before.when i go to the doctor on the next day,he do the same test (but different brand i think), he didn't even wait for 3 minutes to tell me the result!he just said that i'm negative after about half a minute he did the test. what do you think?could it be i'm doing the hpt too early? i'm hmy last period started on 13th june,i calculated my ovulation supposed to be on 26th june and the light bleeding was on 6th july.i'm really look forward to get pregnant....

-- Contributed by: Catlina

Cheri, you will need to take another test to be sure. A positive result means you are pregnant, no matter how light it is, but since it disappeared it may have been an invalid test or an evaporation line.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I took a a pregnancy test and a faint line appeared then about an hour later the line was gone am I pregnant?

-- Contributed by: Cheri

Evaporation lines WILL NOT have any color...evap. lines you will see a clear line most visible when held to light, but if there is even a tinge of color, as the color in the control line, you should go to the docotr as you may be pregnant or if you are not pregnant, have some kind of other problems signaling the release of hcg such as breast cancers and such. As far as leaving the test aside and rechecking it later, a lot of times very early on, hcg may take a while to come up on the strip...sometimes past the time slot given on the directions of that test. I took a test and it only had one line. I threw it in the waste can and 7 hours later i had the desire to recheck it. i pulled it from the can and another line, although thin, faint nd pink, had appeared. 9 months later my daughter came.

-- Contributed by: TamiR

Brandi, according to the EPT Pregnancy Test Instructions, you are pregnant of you get a plus sign in the results window, which is the round window on the test. If the first window shows a horizontal line, like a minus sign, you are not pregnant.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I've misplaced my ept directions. it looks identical to the one in the picture. so i don't know if im pregnant or not. two horizontal lines or both lines going the opposite way????

-- Contributed by: brandi

Kim, although rare, it is possible for a women to get pregnant after having her tubes tied. But, it sounds like you have an evaporation line since it took so long to appear. If you doubt the results, take another pregnancy test to be sure.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I did a pregnancy test and it didnt show up right away but like 10 minutes later looked at it and I do see a line. The line that appears is blue, since it took so long to show up (10) is it just an evaporation line. I didnt know if evaporation lines were colored or just clear. What do you think. The problem is I have had my tubes tied. Is it even possible?

-- Contributed by: Kim

Raelene,

it sounds like you may have gotten a false positive on the first test. Usually a line means you are pregnant but since yours was false and you've had negative tests since then, you are probably not pregnant.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

What if there is a very very faint line, you have had your tubes tied and are on BC becuase of cyst, and you have taken two other test after the very very faint positive and they came out NEG. Then what should you do or think?

-- Contributed by: Raelene

Nene, you should take another test or call your doctor, who can administer a test for you. A faint line means you are pregnant, as long as you followed the directions correctly and read the results in about 3 minutes after taking the test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I TOOK ONE AT WORK IT HAD A DARK LINE AN A FAINT LINE U COULDD BARLEY SEE IT BUT IT WAS THERE THEN I TOOK ONE WEHN I GOT HOME AND IT STILL HAD AN FAINT LINE ON IT SO I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

Alyson, If you cannot afford to go to the doctor or don't have health insurance you can go to the local health department. They will test you and if you show any kind of positive on the urine test they will give you a blood test. If you can afford it however I would do as HollySwanson said and go to you OB/GYN seeing as how they specialize in this kind of thing. If you are pregnant no matter how far along the sooner you find out the safer it is for your baby. For example you will know if you need to stop taking some kinds of meds, eat properly, exercise, and start vitamins. But as far as I know any kind of positive no matter how faint it is, is a positive you can get false negatives but not positives, Another reason to go to the dr A.S.A.P. is if like you said the test was very faint both times, 1 you may have miscarried, in which case your hCG levels should be getting fainter not a bit stronger the next test. 2 it could quiet possible be an ectopic pregnancy, in which case you would still start to feel "pregnant" but your hCG levels would rise at a much slower rate and this could explain why you would have such a faint line both times. Although I wouldn't worry about that to much just go to your doctor as soon as you can. Oh yeah it could also be that your embryo hasn't actually attached its self to the uterus yet. I hope this helps and good luck with whichever result your hoping for.

i have done pregnancy test thrice and all the time ,the second line appears light.its 10 days over of my periods. pls reply thanx

-- Contributed by: sheena

Alyson, anytime you have a positive result on a [Home Pregnancy Test Overview | pregnancy test]], you're pregnant, no matter how light it is.

Have you been to a doctor yet? If not, give your OB/GYN a call tomorrow. They can get a better idea of how far along you are by giving you a blood-based pregnancy test that will measure how much HCG is in your body. Low levels could confirm a miscarriage or higher levels will let you know you are still pregnant.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I took a EPT yesterday and it was extremely faint I had to hold it up to the light to see it, I took one this morning and it was a little darker not much. My periods are irregular but my longest has been 28 days which would make me 2 days late. My breasts are very sore and I feel pregnant but I'm not sure if I am pregnant. I can't keep testing I don't have the money to and I really need to know since I have misscariages very early what should I do??

-- Contributed by: Alyson

Concerned, pretty much anytime there is a positive test result on a pregnancy test it means the person taking the test is pregnant. Pregnancy Test False Positives are pretty rare, but they can occur if someone is taking certain medications.

I would tell your friend to take another test. If she still feels the results are inconclusive, she should contact her doctor for a Blood-based Pregnancy Test.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I know a friend who took an equate brand pregnancy test the results of the test showed a negative sign with a very faint vertical line. She was not sure if she was pregnant so for confirmation she waited a couple of days and tested again. The second time she teste she used Ept plus or minus. The results showed the same as the first test. The only difference with this test was after a few minutes the vertical line disappeared. Could this mean that she is not pregnant? The horiziontal line always shows first with the very faint line following. What could this mean?

-- Contributed by: Concerned friend

Anon, that's really hard to say without knowing what type of test it was. If the line you saw is in the results or indicator window, you're pregnant regardless of how light the line was.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

what if ur line in the circlular shape is light but is there and is horizantal?

please help im very anxous to know

Hi Holly Swanson! Congrats on the pregnancy!

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

How odd, i came to this page because I had faint, but noticeable lines on my pregnancy tests that indicate I am pregnant. My name also happens to be Holly Swanson. What are the odds of that? Thanks for the info Holly Swanson!

-- Contributed by: Holly Swanson too

Hi Could I Be..., did you have a full flow on the 6th or was it a light, short period? Regardless of how dark it is, a line in the results window of a pregnancy test means you're pregnant. I wonder if the period you got was actually spotting during pregnancy or maybe even implantation bleeding, though you probably wouldn't have had a postive test that quickly.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

Hello how is every one doing well ok look you guys I need your help me and my husband had sex like all last month of sept. And he came inside of me every time and then we did it again to day oct. 9 and the 3rd but I was suppose to get my period on the 11 which I didn't I got it on the 6th of oct. Which means that it came to early and I'm always on time I never been preganat before so anyways I took a test and I seen a faint line in it...so what do you think? Thanks

-- Contributed by: could I be with child?

Szanne, if you saw a dark line in the indicator or results window of the pregnancy test, you are pregnant. The line can fade over time, but it still means that it detected the pregnancy hormone hCG when you took the test.

Since your period is already late by a few weeks, this was a good time to take the test and believe the results. If you question the results, take another test or two, but you should also call you OB/GYN to start making prenatal appointments.

-- Contributed by: HollySwanson

I just had my pregnancy test and at first I just saw a dark line. however, after a while, there's this faint line. I don't know if I am pregnant or what? I had my last period a month and a half past already. I need Help!!!

-- Contributed by: Szanne

A line counts, no matter how light. The line will only show up if you have hCG in your body and that only happens during a pregnancy. Taking the test very early in a pregnancy or using diluted urine can cause the test to be faint.

Give your doctor a call. He or she will probably do a blood test to confirm the results and they'll get an accurate idea of how far along you are.

My line is really really faint, i dont know of i am pregnent or over reacting?
