do you have regular cycles? If so, you're likely date of conception would be around October 22, but that can vary by a few days if you ovulated later or earlier this month. The test you took is a reliable test, but if you doubt the results you should always retest.

Hi Xavier,

as I mentioned on the When Did I Conceive article, a few days difference between a baby's size and your conception date isn't unusual. If there were several weeks difference, I'd say that maybe you conceived earlier, but it just sounds like for now, your baby is measuring a few days bigger. This can change during the pregnancy and you could later be measured smaller.

I come up with February 24 as your approx. due date, so it sounds like you are right on track.

I had an ultrasound done at exactly 9 weeks, but the baby measured 9 weeks 6 days. My LMP was May 20 and the ultrasound date was July 22. My cycles are usually about 26-28 days. DH and I had intercourse May 30 and June 4.

My previous period was April 23 and we messed around on May 8, but never actually had intercourse that month due to weird work travel schedules.

Is it possible that I ovulated and conceived a few days earlier than expected, or could I have gotten pregnant May 8 and possibly just had implantation bleeding for what I was pretty sure was a period on May 20? Or is my baby just measuring large? My OB/GYN did not change my EDD (Feb 24 or 27 depending on which method you use) after the ultrasound measurement was done.

so your period was due on the 18th? It's possible that you conceived earlier in the month. Most women ovulate 14 days before their period, but if you have an irregular cycle it may have happened later or earlier than expected. If you still haven't gotten your period, you should take a pregnancy test.

you probably conceived between March 8-14. Even though you have an irregular period, the conception date can be estimated based on the size of the baby and when it's due.

it will be hard to determine when you ovulate since your cycle is irregular, but you can try using ovulation predictor kits to get a better idea. You'll want to start using these around day 12 after the first day of your period and continue using them until you get a positive sign of an LH surge.

my periods are not same in each month sometime it take 30 days and sometimes 36,32 so what is the date of my ovulation.

your doctor may be able to give you a better idea of when you conceived based on the amount of HCG in your blood tests or the size of the baby on ultrasounds. It sounds like your cycle was irregular in April and May, so you didn't conceive at the typical time (which would have been around April 27). If you had, you would have gotten positive pregnancy tests earlier than July.

My LMP was April 13, however a home pregnancy test I took May 18 was negative and a blood test on June 2nd was also negative. I finally got a posistive result on July 13. How far along am I? When was the baby conceived?

Amy, you probably ovulated earlier than expected, but it's still not uncommon for due dates to vary a bit. Although most women ovulate 14 days before their period is due, you could ovulate 2-3 days late, then actually conceive the following day. Due dates can also change during the pregnancy based on the size of the baby, so it's not really an exact science.

I don't know why I am so concerned with this now but my due date was set at 9 days ahead of what it should have been with my LMP (LMP DD= May 25th) (U/S DD= May 16th) Why would there be a nine day difference? Does that mean I was pregnant nine days before my period? or did I ovulate early and just get pregnant early in my cycle?

Confused guy, well, this sucks, doesn't it? Sorry to hear that you are in this situation. With a due date of December 10, conception likely occured between March 15 to March 23. So unless you were with her again in March, it's not yours.

I get November 15 as the likely date of your conception based on when you are due. Since your ultrasounds gave conflicting results, it might be hard to figure out exactly when you conceived. But October 28 is too early a date for your conception, so you should have conceived sometime in mid November.

oct. 28th had unprotected sex, using withdrawal method twice. following morning took plan b, got what seemed to be a regular flow about nov. 10th, which is about the same every month. nov. 22-29th had unprotected sex nonstop, did ejaculate everytime inside me. around wk of period got the worst cramps ever. assumed i was going to start, because my body warns me everytime with cramps. saw a bit of blood...very very light and 2nd time just wiped and saw pink. my period never came like i thought. dec. 15th early u/s sees sac, but no baby. doc. said possible early pregnancy or abnormal. i was considered to be about 5 wks pregnant. jan 22...2nd u/s went from 1 sac with no baby to 2 different sacs each w/ a baby in it. am i pregnant from oct. 28th or from nov. 22-29th. due date according to u/s and LMP is about 8/13th. please respond a.s.a.p

since your last period was on 2/9, you likely ovulated and conceived around February 23. This date can be about two days in either direction since sperm can live for up to 48 hours, as can the egg.

Haze, since your last period was 11/1, you should have ovulated around 11/15. But in your case, it sounds like you ovulated late that month. If you have an irregular cycle, this can easily happen.

An egg is viable for about 48 hours after ovulating, so even if you ovulated four days late, on 11/19, you can conceive from intercourse on the 21st.

im so confused the first day of my LMP was November 1, 2008 and I didn't have sex until November 21, 2008. Is it possible for me to get pregnant then? I also took a pregnancy test Dec. 4, 2008 and it was positive. Is this possible, because I've been reading on conception and due dates and they don't add up.

Melissa, based on your due date, you probably conceived between August 5-11. Since it sounds like your cycle is irregular, you won't be able to pin a date down any closer than that. Since your egg can be fertilized during a 36 hour period and sperm lives around 24 hours, it's really just a guess as to when conception occured.

i took a pregnacy test on august 19 through blood drawing and home testing they both read negative with the blood work it read that my hcg levels was less than 5,000. but i took another test september 5, it read positive both through home testing and blood work. september 1, i didnt have a period. august 1, i just spotted and i have a due date of may 3rd which is based off an ultrasound. with knowing my due date is ultrasound based can you make an educated guess of when i might have conceived august 3, august 12.

WannaKnow, if you tested negative and then had a period, you probably didn't conceive on March 23. As long as it was an actual period and not implantation bleeding, you conceived sometime in April.

Melissa, since you didn't have a regular period is August, I can't say whether you conceived from intercourse on August 3 or 12. YOur OB/GYN may be able to give you a better idea of your likely conception date based on an ultrasound or if you had HCG levels checked during blood-based pregnancy testing.

I'm not concerned about the april dates... I am worried about 3/23...could I have conceived on that date even though I had a period after and a negative test(Oh and the baby was a week early)

The pregnacy calculator states that I conceived on August 10, 2008. But August 1, 2008 I only spotted i did not have a real period. So my question is, if I had sex August 12, 2008 is there a chance that my due date would still be May 3, 2009? When I count back forty weeks it says August 3rd and I also had sex august 3rd. Can you tell me if I conceived on or before august 12, 2008?

WannaKnow, you likely conceived the week of April 17. Since you had sex on the 11 and 23, I can't say for sure when you conceived. It could have been either of these dates.

Not completely sure, assuming you have a regular cycle, calculating back from your due dateof 1/16, I also come up with April 11 as the date of your last period. If that's the case, you likely conceived around April 25. Intercourse in mid-May would have been too late for you to have conceived, so you are probably pregnant by your boyfriend.

I will be 36 weeks on tomorrow 12-19-08. My baby is due 1-16-09 calculated from the date I guessed on of 4-11-08 as the first day of my last period. I have been in a relationship for 7years and no birth control. I cheated twice on 5-15-08 and 5-21-08. I took 2 ept tests toward the end of May and both were negative. After speaking with people I went to the doctor to find out I was pregnant. Based on this does it sound like the other guy is the father? I am thinking no because the dates are spread out to far, and my baby is on schedule so far or even sooner.

Confused, I suspect you conceived from sex during the end of the month since you likely would have ovulated around November 24. It's really too close to call, however. Read our Pregnancy FAQ: Who's the Daddy? for more information.

My last period started on Nov. 12 and lasted 7 days, my last two cycles were 26 days. I had sex with my husband who had a vastemony 4 years ago on Nov. 22. I cheated on him with an ex on Nov. 27, 28, and 29 he used the pull out method during sex. I took home pregnancy tests on Dec.4 and Dec. 5, they were both negitive. I should have started my period on Dec. 7, but I didn't. I took 2 more pregnancy tests on Dec. 11 and I am pregnant. Is there any way knowing who the dad is before the baby is born?

Unsure, if you are pregnant, it would be from sex on the 17th since you had a period after having sex with your ex-boyfriend. If you had sex on 11/17, though, it's really too early for you to be having pregnancy symptoms. You can take a pregnancy test on the day your period is due to know for sure.

i had sex on the 3rd and the 6th with my boyfriend and then we broke up. i started my cycle on the 11th, but i got drunk and slept with someone else on the 17. i have now spotted on and off for two days and have mild cramping. could i be pregnant and whose would it be?

Confused Wife, if you tested too soon back in October, that would explain why you had a negative test result. With intercourse on 9/26, you wouldn't get a positive pregnancy test until around October 10.

You can conceive with the withdrawal method, which is when the man pulls out before ejaculating. There is still a small amount of sperm that still enters the vagina.

Schtae, if you know for sure that you conceived on the 27th, it would be from sex on the 25th. If your cycle is irregular or you ovulated early that month, it might be from the 22/

Taylor, some women have bleeding from implantation that is sometimes confused for a period, so if that happened to you it is possible that you conceived before that period, if it wasn't a period at all. Did you deliver on or around 10/5? Counting back from the due date puts conception around January 18.

Nikki, even when a woman has intercourse at the exact right moment, she won't always conceive. Having intercourse on your most fertile days definitely increases your chances. Good luck.

Keisha, having sex with two guys three days apart makes it too close to call with anything other than a DNA test. Since you know exactly when you had sex with both of them, the change to the due date doesn't help much in determing the paternity

Sharon, with your last period on August 3, you should have ovulated and conceived around the 17th. This can be off by a day or two, especially if you were under stress about your marriage. I can't say for sure who the father is, but if you didn't have sex with anyone else after having sex with your friend on the 13, he is likely the father

Liza, since your period is shorter than 28 days, it's hard to know when you likely ovulated. With your last period on 8/15, you would have conceived around the 29th if your cycle was regular.

Since it wasn't regular and your doctor now puts you at 3 weeks, you probably conceived earlier in the month, maybe around the 25-26.

Neerja, with your last period on 11/14, I calculate August 20 as your due date but whatever your doctor told you based on the ultrasound is what you should go with. There are a lot of things that can through off the date you thought you conceived, like a later ovulation.

a baby born with a due date of April 15 would have been conceived around July 24, but that's about two weeks later than you should have ovulated. With you period on 6/24, you would have ovulated and conceived around July 8, so it's somewhere between those dates depending on your cycle.

I got my period on Nov, 2 2007 and I was having unprotected sex with a guy from November 8 through the 15th. After that we stopped talking. I got back together with my ex on the 27th of Nov. and we were having sex on a daily basis since then. I received my period on the 10th or 11th of December, & I didn't get it in January. I found out I was pregnant on Jan, 21 2008. I was about 1 month and 4 days. When I got my ultrasound done in Mid February I was told I was about 8 or 9 weeks. I want to know if the baby is my current boyfriends' or if it is possible it may the baby of the guy I was sleeping with in early November. I hope this is not confusing. How far along would I be if it did happen to be the child of the guy I was with in early November?

Brittney, so you slept with your ex on January 11? With your period on January 8, you should have conceived on January 22. But since your period was irregular that month, you might have ovulated early.

the amount of time it takes to get pregnant after being on the pill varies with everyone. It's entirely possible to get pregnant the month after coming off of them. It would be hard to say when you conceived since you might ovulate later or earlier this month, but if you stayed on a regular cycle you should have conceived around April 2.

The First day of my LMP was 21st of March I am regular 28 days I was on the pill but have been off of them for about a month or more. some say that once your off the pill it can take up to 6 months before you can get pregnant. I think I am about 3-4 days late which I am sure I know what that means. But when do you think I concieved? If this is even the case.

with your last period on October 11, you should have conceived around October 25 if you have a regular cycle. With that date, your due date should be July 17.

But, if you ovulated late and conceived during sex on November 2, I get a due date of July 25.

Jodie, if your last period started on October 9, you conceived around October 23. But, with your due date on 8/2, your conception date would be November 10. That's probably not very helpful, is it? I can only give you estimates based on those dates, your doctor might be more helpful determining a conception date by looking at the size and growth of your baby.

I'm confused about when my baby is due. My husband works away and we only saw one onothe twice during the months that I fell pregnant with my second child. Jay, with your period on May 20, you should have conceived around June 7 since that's when you would ovulate if you have a regular cycle. That doesn't really match up with the dates you mentioned though.

If your cycle was irregular that month, you could have ovulated early, making it unlikely to be able to come up with an accurate conception date.

Kaykay, with a due date of April 7, you would have conceived around July 15 with your last period being around July 2. But if your baby is bigger and you're sure you had your period earlier than early July, then yes you could have conceived earlier. You typically conceive 2 weeks after your period, so if you had a period in mid-June, you conceived at the end the month or early July.

WHEN I FIRST WENT TO THE DOC. THEY ASKED WHEN MY LAST PERIOD WAS, I WAS UNSURE SO I SAID SOMEWHERE AROUND THE END OF JUNE.. SHE SAID LETS SAY JULY 1ST TO BE SAFE.. GIVING ME A DUE DATE OF APRIL 7TH.. I KNOW FOR SURE MY PERIOD WAS BEFORE THAT , ATLEAST BY 2 WEEKS OR SO... NOW MY BABY IS MEASURING 2 WEEKS BIGGER ... SHE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE CONCEIVED IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY (AROUND THE 15-17TH) I FEEL AS THOUGH IT WAS BEFORE...COULD I BE RIGHT?

Brittany, With a due date of April 24, you would have conceive around August 2. With a due date of May 7, you would have conceived around August 15. If your cycle isn't regular, that could throw off your conception date if you don't ovulate regularly.

Me and my bf are into it cause my due date is April the 24th the only time we done it in july was on the 7th.. but i went to the doc. the other day and they told me my baby was two weeks under wight so now we think my due date is may the 7th. but i was gone to the beach on aug. the 7th but we did do it on aug. the 3rd before i left for the beach so did i conceive on aug the 7th???

Emma, with your period on 2/10, you probably conceived around the 24, although that could be a day or two earlier if your cycle is shorter.

Hi, I really need some help!! I have tracked my periods for over a year, my average cycles is 26 days. I have recently found out I am around 5 3/7 weeks pregnant. My last period was 10th Feb. I really need to find out what dates I could have concieved as there is 2 potential fathers. Please Help.

with your period on 12/16, you should have ovulated and conceived around December 30. If I calculate backwards from your due date, it puts conception at January 1. The two day difference is because you could conceive up to 48 hours after ovulating, but either way it was before January 3.

So the first day of my last period was december 16th and i'm due september 23rd 2008. I'm pretty sure i have a normal cycle so i was wondering what day i would have concieved and if it was January 3rd or before, i hope.

Kait, with a due date of March 28, you should have conceived around July 6. Doctors consider the two weeks after your last peiod to be the first two weeks of pregnancy. That still leaves about a week difference between when you conceived and when your last period is. Crystal, you should have conceived around January 16 based on your last period. I'm not sure why there is the difference between yourultrasounds. Were they performed on the same day? Your doctor might be able to shed more light on it because I'm not really sure.

ok! so i had an ultra sound and a TV ultra sound. The docter told me i was 5 week's 4 day's with the regular ultra sound and i'm 4 week's 5 day's with the TV ultra sound? weird..when did i get pregnant? my last period was Jan 2th and i was ovulating from Jan 11-181h.

Aimzy, that's right, you would have conceived around November 14 (I come up with the 12th, but the exact day would depend on when you ovulated ), but it would have been sometime that week.

I had an ultra sound on dec 17th 2007, it said i am pregnant a gestational age of 7 weeks, i didn't know my last period, this meant that if i counted back 7 weeks, it was october 30th 2007, but if gestational age is 2 weeks greater, does this mean i actually conceived 2 weeks later in november 14th??? I'm kinda confused...

if the gestational age is based on an ultrasound, the difference could be caused by the baby being a bit smaller or larger than usual. Sometimes, this can change with future ultrasounds.

Bea, since your cycle is irregular, it will be difficult to tell exactly when you conceived. Under even regular circumstances, the conception date is really a best guess that could be off by a few days.

Counting back from your due date, you probably conceived around July 21.

good day. i am bea. i had my LMP on june 23, 2007. i dont know my menstrual cycle but i am guessing it is more than 28 days since there are some months in a year when i dont get my period. my first ultrasound gave me an EDD of april 12, 2008. at the time of my first ultrasound, the fetus' gestational age is 7 weeks and 3 days only. the result is 2 weeks off my LMP. which should i follow then? and when did i conceive?

Daniel- Not sure how old this comment is but reading it made me shudder...I cannot imagine someone bringing up having sex NINE days after having a baby yet alne having a c-section. this must be you thinking of this right? Most people obstain from intercourse till their 6 week appt when the doctor tells you all systems are go...next time you think about sex with your wife-think about it 9 days after you push a bowling ball out of yourself.

Daniel, your wife probably won't get pregnant now, but I say probably because the body can do strange things, especially right after labor. Her doctor can advise you better, but if you really want to make sure she doesn't get pregnant you should use a form of birth control.

Som, your wife might be able to conceive a boy by timing intercourse for right before she ovulates, but there is really no guaranteed way to determine your child's gender. For tips that might help increase your chances, check out the article How to Conceive a Boy.

Kristinna, congrats on your pregnancy! It's possible that your girl theory is correct, it makes sense to me. Of course, it will be a while before you know for sure so hold off on buying the girl clothes. Let us know when you find out if it really is a girl.

Here is a confusing situation. My boyfriend and I had sex on June 29th.. We were not together the prior 3 weeks or any time from june 29th to present day. (yes we are still a couple and live together, but we work opposite shifts) So that would make me 6 weeks 1 day pregnant on Aug 27th. Gestational age of 4 weeks 1 day. Well, I had an ultrasound on Aug 27th, and they said I am only measuring 5 weeks and no fetus has appeared yet, just the yolk sack. They insist everything is normal, but a week off.. So, I have read that male sperm dies quickly and female sperm can live for 5-7 days... So I guess I can assume that the baby is a girl and the egg wasn't fertilized for 5 days after we were together? This is just too wierd!

Gestational age is hard to figure out, but the ultrasound estimate is your best bet. Conception can happen over several days and can't really be pinpointed exactly, especially if you ovulate a few days later or earlier than usual.

For example, let's say a woman expects to ovulate on day 15 and has sex that same day. But, maybe she actually ovulated on day 13 and also had sex that day. She could have already conceived and been pregnant by day 15.

Likewise, a woman who thinks she's going to ovulate on day 15 might not do so until day 18. If she had sex and conceived on day 20, she would have conceived 5 days later than she expected.

What if your Gestational age on the date of the ultra sound is 6 weeks and four days, and the EGA based on my LMP is 7 weeks and 2 days. That is onlt a 5 day difference. My husband and I tried to concieve about 15-17 days after the first day of my last period (and I usually have a long cycle), so the dates don't add up. I guess my question is how is the gestational age detertmined? (The day of the ultrasound the crown rump length was 6.3mm.)

Jessica, it's possible one or both of your June periods was pregnancy-related bleeding. Did your doctor give you a due date? Without knowing the due date or the date of your ultrasound, I can't count back to figure out a probable conception date.

i have a question. my last period was on the 26th of june 2007 but when i went for my ultrasound they told me i was 8 weeks and 5 days. i got my period on june 5th and then on the 26th. could you tell me when i possibly conceive. i need to know. thanks
