No Pregnancy Symptoms?
From LoveToKnow Pregnancy
You just found out you're pregnant, but you have no pregnancy symptoms. What does this mean?
When Can You Expect Pregnancy Symptoms?
Most likely you won't notice any pregnancy symptoms until about the time you've missed a period, or a week or two later. Don’t worry if you’ve tested positive for pregnancy, but have no pregnancy symptoms for the first month. You may be one of the lucky few who barely notice they’re pregnant.
What Are Common Pregnancy Symptoms?
Professionals think that pregnancy symptoms come from the hormone hCG--the same hormone pregnancy tests look for. If you have no pregnancy symptoms, but have tested positive on a pregnancy test, you are probably pregnant.
Missing Your Period
The first sign that makes many women suspect they’re pregnant is missing their period. However, many women have implantation bleeding around the time of their period. Usually the bleeding is very light and only lasts a day or two. If this is different from your regular period and you’ve had unprotected sex or are trying to get pregnant, you should take a pregnancy test.
Tender or Swollen Breasts
Your breasts may become more sensitive during the first trimester, similar to how they might feel right before you get your period. However, many woman who drink lots of water and no caffeine, have no breast tenderness in general and may not experience it in early pregnancy.
Sensitivity to Smells
You may notice smells more, or notice certain smells that trigger nausea. This symptom is subjective. You may not be around smells that bother you or you may not notice you’re sensitive to smells, especially if you’re very busy.
Food Aversions
You may notice that foods you once loved no longer sound appetizing. Or, you may crave foods that you normally dislike. Again, this is subjective and you may not notice this symptom. Or you may be so happy you like a food you disliked, that you don’t question the reason.
Frequent Urination
You may notice that you’re heading into the bathroom more. This symptom usually pops up around 6 weeks. However, if you normally drink a lot of fluids (which you should be doing), you may not notice this symptom either, since you’re already spending a lot of time in the bathroom.
Exhaustion
You will probably feel tired in the first trimester, though if you’re already tired from taking care of other children or busy at work, you may not notice that you’re more tired than usual.
Morning Sickness
Many women experience nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy. Despite the name, this can happen at any time. Despite what all the television programs, movies, and novels say, many women do not experience morning sickness. Personally, I had no morning sickness and I was pregnant with twins.
What if I Tested Positive on a Pregnancy Test, but Have No Pregnancy Symptoms?
Try to wait a couple of weeks. You may not experience any symptoms for the first month or two. If you still have no pregnancy symptoms, you should take another home pregnancy test or contact your care provider. Though it’s rare, you may have had a false positive on your pregnancy test. You also may have miscarried without realizing it. As many as 50% of pregnancies result in a miscarriage.
In Conclusion
If you tested positive on multiple home pregnancy tests, but have no pregnancy symptoms after the first six weeks, you need to contact your care provider.
Comments
Chris, cramping is pretty common with pregnancies since your muscles are stretching. I had bad cramping for the first few weeks of my pregnancy and thought it was a miscarriage but the pregnancy was fine. Spotting can also be common, so unless you start having bad bleeding, you will probably need to wait to see your doctor.

-- Contributed by: HollySwansonI found out through a blood test that I was pregnant a few days ago. They think I'm alittle over 6 weeks pregnant. I dont have any symptoms and I do have alittle cramping. I spotted alittle bit when I usually have my period....I'm worried though due to the facts that I've had a miscarriage before and the fact that I dont have any symptoms- besides crampng and ALITTLE breast tenderness....The doctor's here dont think it's necessary to schedule me any sooner then a week and a half from today -they make me feel like I'm overreacting and say that cramping is not sufficient evidence of a miscarriage and not to call them back until I've had "red blood for 3 consecutive hours". Which hasnt happend...I may be overreacting but when I miscarried before-I didnt have any bleeding whatsoever. But I did bleed when I was pregnant with my daughter.....Am I overreacting?
