Katie Holmes is Pregnant!

If you’ve been wondering, “Is Katie Holmes pregnant?” the answer is yes!

When former Dawson’s Creek actress Katie Holmes and longtime Hollywood box office king Tom Cruise first became an item in April 2005, fans speculated as to the future of their relationship. A few months earlier, Katie had told Seventeen she once had a schoolgirl’s crush on Tom. “I think every little girl dreams about [her wedding]," she said. "I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise." However, before her relationship with Tom, Katie was planning to marry American Pie star Chris Klein.

In May 2005, Tom made a memorable appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in which he jumped on her couch and professed his undying devotion to Katie. In June, Tom proposed to Katie atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris. By October 2005, the couple had officially announced Katie’s pregnancy. During the blitz of media attention that surrounded this whirlwind romance, Tom and Katie broke personal records with their most recent films. Tom’s War of the Worlds grossed $233 million, while Katie’s Batman Begins took home $205 million.

Preparing for Baby’s Arrival

Since representatives for the couple have yet to comment on the baby’s gender or due date, fans of Katie and Tom have few details about what to expect. However, the couple continues to deny rumors that the child was conceived with the help of in vitro fertilization.

Katie and Tom have been keeping busy shopping as they wait for the newest addition to their family. A pregnant Katie Holmes has been spotted browsing the selection of baby clothes in several trendy boutiques. Tom recently surprised Katie with a selection of Gucci, Versace, John Galliano, Dolce and Gabbana, and Ben De Lisi maternity dresses. However, one of Katie and Tom’s most interesting purchases to date has been a sonogram machine. Despite warnings from medical professionals, the couple plan to monitor their unborn child’s progress from the comfort of their own home.

Trouble in Paradise?

While Katie has had an uneventful pregnancy so far, fans are wondering how Tom’s belief in Scientology will influence the baby’s birth. Katie, who was raised Catholic, claims she is excited to learn more about the practice of Scientology. A very pregnant Katie Holmes already appeared in public numerous times with Jessica Rodriguez, her "Scientologist chaperone." However, only time will tell if she agrees to Scientology’s practice of a drug-free, completely silent childbirth.

Tom recently put himself in the center of a media debate after suggesting actress Brooke Shields’s popularity had declined as the result of her use of the antidepressant Paxil following the birth of her daughter. In a New York Times editorial, Brooke responded by saying Tom displayed an "utter lack of understanding about postpartum depression and childbirth in general." Even the American Psychiatric Association published a statement calling Tom’s recommendation that women treat postpartum depression with vitamins and exercise “irresponsible."

Family Plans

While this will be the first child for the pregnant Katie Holmes, Tom has two adopted children from his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman. There’s no word yet on how Conner, 10, and Isabella, 12, feel about the upcoming arrival of their half-sibling.

For the time being, Katie and Tom appear to be more focused on preparing for their little one’s arrival than planning their nuptials. Tom says the wedding won’t happen until at least June 2006. However, rumors have circulated that Katie plans to be a stay-at-home mom once the baby is born.
