There, the eggs are fertilized and continue to develop. Other species in the Syngnathidae family that have male pregnancies include sea dragons and pipefish.

One stunning case arises out of RYT Hospital when Mr. Lee Mingwei is the first man to become pregnant through medical intervention. The Science of Male Pregnancy outlines a procedure in which a male is impregnated using in vitro fertilization. The ectopic pregnancy is possible because the medical team placed the placenta and embryo into the man’s abdominal cavity.

• Hormone therapy to make the body receptive to becoming pregnant
