Yes, the latest gossip is true—pop singer Gwen Stefani is pregnant! Gwen, 36, and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale, 40, have confirmed that they are expecting their first child together. Gwen publicly announced her little one’s impending arrival during a December 2005 performance in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It was her final U.S. tour stop, and she appeared to be very emotional throughout the concert. During a sing-along of her popular song Crash, she told the audience, "I want you to say it loud enough so the baby hears it."

Since the happy couple wanted to protect their privacy, they held off making the announcement as long as possible. However, it was tough for an ecstatic Gwen to keep her news under wraps. In a recent Los Angeles Times interview, Gwen told fans, "I'm really horrible with secrets. It's amazing we kept it quiet as long as we did, I suppose. There are so many things that are going to change, you know?"

Gwen and Gavin first met in 1995, when No Doubt opened for Bush during the Sixteen Stone tour. At the time, No Doubt had just released their second disc, Tragic Kingdom.

After a long courtship, Gwen and Gavin married in September 2002. First, they had a U.K. wedding at St. Paul's Church in London's Covent Garden. Two weeks later, they attended a second ceremony in Los Angeles.

Shortly after their wedding, Gwen told the press she planned to start a family once she was settled into her marriage. "I've wanted to have kids since I was nine years old," she said. Of course, Gwen has also made mention of her desire to become a mother in songs such as What You Waiting For (with a clock ticking in the background) and A Simple Kind of Life (where she wishes for a "mistake" with her birth control.)

Few details are known about the upcoming birth, but Gwen and Gavin’s baby is reportedly due in June 2006. Although this will be Gwen’s first child, Gavin has a teenage daughter with fashion designer Pearl Lowe.

Family members and close friends of the couple are eagerly awaiting the baby’s arrival. Gavin's father, Douglas Rossdale, told US Weekly, "We are delighted." Gwen’s mother, Patti Stefani, has also publicly expressed her excitement over her grandchild’s arrival.

While Gwen has yet to be spotted buying items for her baby’s nursery, she’s been praised by critics for her tasteful maternity wardrobe. During a recent afternoon walk with her dog, a pregnant Gwen Stefani showed off her baby bump in a trendy wraparound dress and trousers combination.

Gwen’s pregnancy comes at the height of her public popularity. In 2004, Gwen split from No Doubt to focus on her thriving career as a solo artist. Her first solo album, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., featuring the hit single Hollaback Girl, was nominated for five Grammy’s including album of the year. Gwen’s also been keeping busy promoting her own designer fashion line.

Although the pregnant Gwen Stefani claims she’ll be putting her career on hold for a few years after the baby arrives, Gavin is eager to step into the demands of fatherhood. He’s been seen publicly doting on the mom-to-be. He’s even said he’ll take the baby on tour with him to give Gwen a break!
