Fact Plus Pregnancy Test
From LoveToKnow Pregnancy
Taking a Fact Plus pregnancy test is one of the first ways many women know they are pregnant. With the wide variety of home pregnancy tests available, using one that you are familiar with can lessen the chances of human error when taking and reading the test.
When to Use the Fact Plus Pregnancy Test
Taking a pregnancy test can be a nerve-racking situation. Whether you are hoping for a positive or a negative, waiting until the first or second day of a missed period is best. Hormone levels of hCG, which detects pregnancy, may not be high enough until several days after a missed period. If you have an irregular period, you should test 14 or more days after you believed you conceived.
Doing the test early in the morning, using the first urine of the day, will result in the most accurate readings. Having too much liquid or water before testing may skew results, especially if hormone levels are not especially high. Fact Plus pregnancy tests have a 99 percent accuracy level in detecting average hormone levels.
Two Choices from Fact Plus
Fact Plus offers two choices for testing. Both Fact Plus Stick and Fact Plus Cassette have identical accuracy; simply choose the method of testing you feel most comfortable with.
Fact Plus Stick
This is a one-step test. Using a stick, you hold the absorbent end in the urine stream. A secure grip helps keep it from slipping. After collecting the urine, place the cap over the absorbent tip. Results will show up in the window further down the strip.
A plus sign in the results window indicates that you are pregnant, which a horizontal line is a negative result.
Fact Plus Cassette
Fact Plus Pro involves collecting urine in a sample cup. Using the dropper, withdraw urine and place into the well in the designated spot on the test cassette. Wait for results to show within the results area. This method is easier for some women, as it provides for better control.
Before doing any method of testing, thoroughly read the instructions and follow them carefully. The results window will show a horizontal line under the control line if you are pregnant, so you will see two lines. If you are not pregnant, only one line will be visible next to the reference section.
Reading the Results
If you received a negative result and have no period after a week, test again. If another negative result appears, visit a healthcare professional. Make sure you use tests right after opening them, and do not attempt to read them after the allotted time has expired. This can result in false readings. Be aware that some fertility medications can cause false positives.
If you got urine in the control window, test results may be skewed due to streaking. If you are questioning the results of your test, you can always take a second test or contact your doctor's office.
If you have a positive Fact Plus pregnancy test, call your physician to begin prenatal care for your unborn child.
Comments
Elle, most pregnancy tests should be taken the first day of your missed period or in the days following. A few are accurate before your period is due, but only by a 3-4 days.
As for reading the results, assuming you are taking the Fact Plus stick test, a horizontal line in the result window means you are not pregnant. If you were pregnant, you would see a plus sign there.
If you are testing too early, you will need to take another test when your period is due to be sure you have accurate results.
I'm a little confused, so for one you do have to take it right around or after your next period? And for two what if there is just a horozonal line in the results window??
-- Contributed by: elleRhea, the R indicates the results window, which displays a plus or minus sign. Sounds like you have a minus sign, meaning that you are not pregnant. If you doubt the results, you should test again.
