When you think you are pregnant, waiting until you can get an appointment with your health care provider to find out for sure can be sheer torture. Fortunately, you can go down to your local pharmacy, or look online, and purchase a home pregnancy kit at your convenience. There are lots of tests to choose from; check the LoveToKnow Pregnancy homepage for articles about many of them. This article describes the Clear Blue tests.

Clear Blue Easy Pregnancy Test

The Clear Blue Easy Pregnancy Test has taken the guesswork out of taking a home pregnancy test by creating a urine test stick that actually changes color from white to pink to let you when you have adequately saturated the test stick tip with urine.

You can take the Clear Blue Easy Pregnancy Test at any time of the day, on any day after the day you expect your period to start.

To take the Clear Blue pregnancy test, simply hold the tip of the urine test strip under your urine stream for five seconds, or until the tip turns pink, then wait two minutes for the results to show up in the results window. Make sure a vertical blue line appears in the control window to ensure the test is working properly, then look for a plus sign in the results window to indicate you are pregnant. Even if the line is faint, it still counts as a positive result.

The Clear Blue Easy Pregnancy Test can be purchased at your local pharmacy or online and will cost your around $13 for a single test kit or $17 for a double test kit. You will find the instructions included in the kit are printed in English and Spanish.

Clear Blue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test

If you are concerned about reading the standard Clear Blue Easy Pregnancy Test results, then the Clear Blue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test may be a better answer for you. Instead of a control window and a result window that show blue lines when you are pregnant, the digital pregnancy test features only one easy to read window. The results will be spelled out in words. You will see either ‘Pregnant’ or ‘Not Pregnant’ within about three minutes from the time you saturate the test stick tip with urine. The digital Clear Blue pregnancy test even features a flashing test stick symbol to let you know your test is working properly.

This digital pregnancy test comes with either one test stick and test stick holder or in a package of three test sticks and one test stick holder. The cost of a single test kit is only slightly higher than the non-digital kit at $15 or $20 for the double kit that contains the bonus extra test strip.

Accuracy of the Clear Blue Pregnancy Test

According to the manufacturer, Unipath Diagnostics, you can expect an accurate result from a Clear Blue pregnancy test (either regular or digital) starting on the first day you miss your period. Unipath states that the test is 99% accurate if used correctly.

In Conclusion

If you do not receive a positive test result but you are still waiting for your period to start after three days, take another test. Sometimes, it takes longer for the hormone used to trigger a positive test result to reach a high enough level in your urine stream to activate a positive test result. The best time to take a pregnancy test is a week past a missed period. If you are pregnant the hormones usually show up around that time.

Enter, that symbol means that the test is invalid for some reason. As you probably already know, you'll need to follow up with another home pregnancy test, but you might want to just buy a less expensive brand and style that has a clearer readout.

Ashley, I don't know either. I also opened a non-digital test once and saw the same thing. I suspect that it's either an odor-absorber or something to prevent moisture from getting out of the test.
