It’s A Boy!

Christina Aguilera’s website proudly proclaims the birth of her little boy, Max Liron Bratman. The little guy weighed in at 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long when he was born on January 12, 2008. Christina and her husband Jason are said to be enjoying their first child and not worrying about her career schedule for now. Christina has created a special video for her fans on her website and it features a song that she has dedicated to her little boy.

As with any new mother-to-be, Christina had to decide how to balance her career and the upcoming blessed event. Critics and fans speculated how she could best accomplish a singing career and a new family life while performing in her Back to Basics tour.

The 26-year old star admitted that she initially kept the pregnancy a secret because she wanted to keep her private life private. However, she had to let the people on her tour know so they would “have her back,” as she explained in her interview with Marie Claire magazine for their January 2008 issue. Announcing the pregnancy to the world, especially while she was on tour, was not something she wanted to do. Christina was afraid that the audience would be wondering if she was okay while performing instead of enjoying her show. The Back to Basics tour had her doing 10 costume changes and performing some stunts, which some people might consider a little dangerous (even more so for a pregnant woman).

An Unplanned Pregnancy

Christina admits that the pregnancy wasn’t planned and that she and her husband were planning to conceive after the tour was over. In order to do this, she had gone off of the pill to prepare her body. It was a surprise to her and her husband that they conceived their baby so easily. Christina believes the baby was conceived in Washington, D.C., during her tour.

Social Faux Pas

The pregnancy rumors became fact when Paris Hilton allowed Christina’s secret to slip at a pre-party before the MTV Music Awards. Once the cat was out of the bag, Christina decided it was best to confirm, rather than deny, the pregnancy. She denies that she was trying to keep the pregnancy a secret from the public; Christina just wanted to limit the information to a few close friends and family before she announced it to the world.

Protecting Baby on Tour

Christina wanted to make sure both she and the baby were safe during her tour so she wore a hidden heart monitor during her shows to make sure she wasn’t overdoing it. The last thing she wanted to do was endanger her baby for the sake of the tour. The tour only had a month to go after she found out she was pregnant and with proper care, Christina made it to the end of her tour with no problems and was then able to focus on the upcoming big event.

Plans for the Future

Christina has no immediate plans to add to her family. She and her hubby are enjoying their first little one and living in the moment. What are the odds we will see Christina Aguilera pregnant again in the future? As her star continues to rise, it will be hard to predict how this family will fit another pregnancy into an already hectic schedule. However, it wasn’t a problem with this first child, so there will probably be more children for her in the future!
