Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar History
The legend goes that a Chinese scientist developed the Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar 700 years ago, as a means of helping a pregnant woman predict the sex of her baby. The Chinese Lunar Pregnancy Calendar was found in a Royal tomb in the vicinity of Peking, China, and now the original calendar is kept in the Institute of Science in Peking.

How The Chinese Lunar Calendar Works
The numbers down the left side of the above chart represents the mother’s age at the time she conceived. The months across the top of the chart represent the month when the mother conceived. By following across and down to where the month and age intersect, the mother will find either a box containing a B for boy or a G for girl. For example, if a 32-year-old woman conceived in January, her baby would be a boy.
Accuracy
The Chinese Lunar Calendar is supposedly 99 percent accurate. Unfortunately, no instructions were passed down on how the calendar works when predicting the sexes of multiples.

Other Sex Predictors
Other wives’ tales concerning the prediction of a baby’s sex include:
- Carrying the baby high means the baby is a girl and carrying low means it is a boy.
- A heartbeat over 140 is typically a girl and under 140 is a boy.
- Craving sweets means the mother is expecting a girl.
- Of the father puts on weight during the pregnancy, then the couple is expecting a girl.

Rekha, there isn't any definitve way to conceive a boy unless you go through a fertility clinic and have the embryos preselected for gender. For some ideas on how to influence the gender, check out our articles:

I'm afraid that splits the difference and I can't really tell you which year to follow on the chart. I guess it will depend on whether you ovulate before or after your birthday. But I think that's probably a more specific reading than the creators of the calendar expected.
