There are several anti-hypertensive medications that can be used during pregnancy.

Nifedipine -- which is a calcium channel blocker -- can be used during pregnancy, although it tends to be used during the second and third trimester. There is not very much information about the effects of long-term use during pregnancy on the development of the baby, so many doctors may not prescribe it. You would have to ask your doctor whether nifedipine is one of the medications that he/she usually prescribes during pregnancy. For more information about this medication, read this article.

There are other medications that your doctor may switch you to like methyldopa, labetalol, some B-blockers, and hydralazine. You should discuss your concerns and your intentions to get pregnant with your physician so he/she can make the medication switch when needed.

Good luck!
